But that said (my post before), an opinion doesn't preclude you from getting slammed for it.

If my opinion is that "all blacks are delinquents" then I will most likely be slammed for it. So it's fine for me to point out the inaccuracies of your opinion -- that's all I'm doing. You don't have to think of it as a "fight" or anything.

My post was to dispel your opinion that the chatroom is full of isolationist egos who have superiority complexes (taking this from your perception that we think we are 'cool', forgive my interpretation). In my opinion, we are more friendly than the people on this forum (especially with regards to how we treat newbies).

It wasn't and isn't a ticking time bomb anyway. It's only when people misinterpret my posts to think that I am being riled up, when all I am doing is also adding my own opinion.

Ok here comes my thoughts...
These are really not even conventional cliques I have realised lol
I think there are:

The Science/maths members: these members are naturally inclined to mathematics and science subjects, they are usuually willing to help others out who have problems, there arguments in other threads are usually based on logic, evidence and proof.

The people who consider themselves 'cool' members: these members usually have a decent interest in their studies but find a lot of the time find the formality and arguments on VN to be overly-studious. They usually start there VN experience with a few dreadful posts usually critisizing members, being pains in the arses and sometimes giving false information to other members. they are usually very aggresive and see any disagrrements with what they say as personal... a heated argument is likely to erupt.

Businessy members: these members usually see things on a more cost/loss or pros/cons view. These members like to see things from an economic perspective.
