I've used Paypal before when purchasing some things through eBay and never had a problem with it. Found Paypal useful when buying things from overseas. Haven't used Google Checkout before though.

Just make sure you're using HTTPS though, rather than HTTP (look at the address bar). With these two sites, you will be.

I would never buy things off the Internet. I could just imagine what those people on the other end may do. If I ordered a 'genuine' Chanel purse (yay), how would I know it's genuine? But it's too late, they have your $2000 already in their pocket. What will they do with that money? They will probably spend it on material goods, and won't spare one dime of it. Will they feel guilty? I seriously doubt it.

Anyway, long story short, I will never buy off the Internet :P (But not everyone is like that, this is just my personal opinion.)

don't purchase from dodgy stores lol, i'm sure no-one will :p

But stores like Apple, Dell, Skype, Microsoft, Newegg are genuine businesses with a established trading presence. If you found to be a victim of fraud, just report 'em.

Simple.
