Oh. And architecture is also interesting to take photos of, particularly with the play of light.

These were taken with a normal digital camera. I plan to get a DSLR after VCE finishes :)

i used to think that, but it doesn't add THAT much. often i'll see amazing pictures on flickr, and they'll be taken with P&S.

and when i look at pictures from the 5k+ pro cameras, its ridiculous how small the difference is between them and a mid range slr!!! for the price. but obviously if its your job (or you are really rich), then 5k isn't a huge amount.

SLRs give you more control over the parameters of the shot - making it particularly useful in macro shots or unusual focus points.

They also feel nice in your hand :P

I plan on buying one when I have some more disposable income...used one in Year 9 and fell in love with them.

Ooers, more photography lovers! At the moment I'm doing studio arts photography, working with a normal digital camera.. Too poor to afford those professional ones (got my eye on the canon 400d tho).

Has anyone tried Lomography? It's a great alternative if you haven't got the 1k+ to spare. You can never be too sure of the results but I guarantee you they'll always produce interesting photos! =]

And great photos costargh and bturville! Your dogs are gorgeous!! :smitten:
btw what camera are you using bturville? I love the focus in your photo! ^^

^ My photos typically fit into the category of lomography (and I always have a camera around insofar as I have a mobile phone). I never did photography in school and never had a terribly 'good' camera, so it's a fun option with mixed results.

music gear on photography gear are so expensive. i really need to get some cheaper hobbies :D

i'm using a canon SLR, i just set a low aperture (probably lower than i needed, actually) to blur out all the background. she's yawning by the way, in case anybody thought my dog had some kind of major deformity...haha.

The Sony Alpha 300 (the one they give the best rating in their review) can be found for cheaper than quoted in the review
http://www.myshopping.com.au/PR--285709_Sony_DSLR_A300K_Digital_Cameras?Sort=PS

Many of these cameras can be found for a lot cheaper than what they are quoted for on the net. myshopping.com.au

I might get it once exams are over and do photography as a hobby :)

i've never heard of the 1000d? however, i would highly recommend buying a 2nd hand eos 350d (or 400d, or whatever brand you wanna go for) and then putting the money you saved into a better lens than the kit.

the sony slrs are quite new, but i've heard many good things about them. thanks for the link

I am in the 3rd and 4th one. My brother is in the 2nd one.
They are taken on Polaroid and manipulated while the ink is wet
