Collin: are you applying for a summer vacation scholarship at UMelb or Monash or anywhere? Looks very good on your CV, and you're basically being paid to study what you want.

Which one are you referring to regarding UoM?
I don't know what ones Collin would be interested (and what ones they offer). I've applied for the maths vacation scholarship at UMelb this year though, so I'd imagine there'd be similar things in his areas.

are there any other scholarship programs at other universities in melbourne?
For maths, definitely. I looked at ones offered at ANU, USyd, UNSW, Monash, and UMelb (basically members of the top 8 unis in Australia that were close enough to me). I'd imagine most would offer vacation scholarships in other areas as well (I know that ANU offers them in pretty much any area). I don't know about lesser unis: places like RMIT and La Trobe may offer similar things.

The scholarship varies greatly: most are 6 weeks long and pay $300-450 a week (UMelb $300, Monash $350, UNSW $450!), though for some reason ANU has 10-12 weeks at something like $150 a week, plus free board at Burgmann college (which is catered). Again, I've only looked at the maths scholarships, but I'd definitely recommend having a search around on various unis' websites: I just searched variants of "vacation scholarship", "summer research scholarship", "research scholarship" and the like.

Hey, another question:

For work experience, Could I put a personal trader for equities and currencies?

It's relevant to my industry, obviously, but unsure if I should put in my resume.
