How about doing an internship Collin? Are they available for engineering careers?

Not available until you are in penultimate year, or already a superstar (with a massive extra-curricular background and amazing marks)

Haha, I wanna know how I should go about building my extra-curricular profile. Maybe there's some good stuff to do that I haven't thought of. I can only think of boring generic shit like working for the Red Cross... :(

What I want to do is steer myself in a direction suitable for my future career.
Hmm, well what are you learning towards for your future career - Chemical Engineering?
or something in economics?
or finance?

Maybe that would give us a better idea of how to help

Haha, what's he do?

This is what his biography says at leftright think tank:

Raised in country Victoria, Thom is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts (Global) at Monash University alongside several community appointments, including as a Human Rights Ambassador to the Victorian Equal Opportunity & Human Rights Commission; on the Board of Governance, Youth Reference & Policy Advisory Groups of the Victorian Youth Affairs Council; on the Youth Advisory Committee of the Victorian Red Cross; and on the Youth Reference Group for the Victorian Mental Health & Wellbeing Summit. Thom has previously served as the Chairman of the National Cadet Reference Group in the Australian Air Force Cadets, on the Youth Advisory Committee of the Daylesford & Hepburn Shire Council, as the Government Engagement Leader of the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY Campaign, and as the President of his Student Council at Daylesford Secondary College.

So at 19 years of age, his CV would already be HUGE!

Heh, I met him during my stint as a cadet / bandie...

He was gonna be at MHS actually, but he turned the offer down for some reason (something to do with his subject combination).

You may as well try for an internship/work experience. I've emailed a whole bunch of book publishing firms for internships over the summer and I've already got one 'no (but keep trying)' and one 'maybe (let's see your CV)'.

Re: Thom Woodroofe
1- I have met him (at an Oaktree Foundation training day)
2- I have two mutual friends with him on Facebook who I didn't know were mutual friends. I met these people in entirely different contexts.

How strange.

I think his ENTER was about 94 or something, if you're interested (the day I met him was also the day offers came out). That's all I really remember. Clearly it's a sign of how obsessed I still was about ENTER scores then.

Hey Coblin.
At Melb Uni at the moment there is a program called Robogals Inc. that involves uni students teaching Grade 6 girls how to program Mindstorm NXT robots. This is to promote women in engineering or something.

Robogals reallly needs volunteers and if your interested, maybe you can do that?

One question:

Is it appropriate to put that you were a Global Moderator on VCENotes on your resume? :P
