hey just wanted to know what you guys think of qantas after all these incidents happening all in the same year? do you think its getting more unreliable by the month?
Especially the one that happened on tuesday when a qantas climbed and then pitched nose down without warning and injured like all these ppl. supposedly now they are saying its due to a technical glitch. thats even worse, i prob wont go on qantas in future... too freaky...but that perception might change in the future depending if theres more or less incidents. '

...and with the poll if you chose 'no', what airline would you fly with?

heres a video on it, like 1:30 minutes into the video theres an animation of what likely happened... i was like fuck...

I heard that these sort of failures are actually rather regular, and the press has only played up the significance of these chain of events because it's interesting (consumers demand this tabloid stuff). Nonetheless, I'd do my research before jumping on a Qantas flight though.

Actually... QANTAS is one of the most safest, if not safest airlines in the word (NB I am not active like Prav would with citi). No fatality since operation of jet airliners

No. of fatalities is just one measure of safety. How about the number of potentially disastorous incidents that have occured this year?

Quite rare actually for these types of incidences to actually happen. It just so happens that there is a clump of airline incidents that have happened in a short space of time, which (as Coblin suggested) makes for good tabloid journalism.

There's an economic incentive for airlines companies to maintain good safety records. Many a company have gone bust because of a few major airline crashes (resulting in fatalities)

Also... this latest incident with that qantas jet highlight an important thing when on an aircraft. You should have your seat belt on everytime you are on a seat. This will help you avoid hitting things if there is turbulance (or elevator failure as it is turning out now) mid-flight/

well i kinda think qantas' reputation is going down fast right now, there was like poll saying around 63% of ppl are lacking confidence with qantas from some survey, and yes no deaths on flight since 1951? think so thats a good thing, its just kinda uneasing to think all these incidents in quick succession have happened since they moved their maintenance base area to singapore i think?... but yeah makes good tabloid journalism as well lolz i like reading/watching into these air incidents and accidents...

but hmm ill prob fly with emirates or singapore airlines over qantas if i was to fly now..

Hmmm, I'm flying on a Qantas flight back up to Canberra in about 8 hours time.

Hadn't even given it a moment's thought, to be honest.

Yeah, obviously the poll results are caused by the media emphasis (rather than 100% information), and then what does 63% mean anyway? What are the ratings of other airliners by that same sample?

lol beats me where 63% came from ... lol ur too much like my maths and climate lecturer, whats behind the statistics...lol

im just saying 'yes because of the media emphasis' im not sure qantas is as reliable now with all these incidents happening.. i dont hear other big reputable airliners having accidents every month, which i expect that the media would of reported it...

but anyway qantas is still good i think... no deaths yet!

pfft screw emirates.   . .  thats an even greater risk. EK is a muslim airline therefore increases the risk of terrorism. i prefer Singapore Airlines. They rule !!!!
