Bags for Uni

Hey everyone, being 2:50 am I figured now is a superb time to start budgeting for University next year  :)... I'm looking for a bag that can hold a laptop nicely but also with the capacity for a few books. From what I've seen/heard the Crumpler bags fulfil this role nicely : http://www.crumpler.com.au/lite/english/products.html#/english/default.html . However, they are quite pricey. I'm willing to pay for quality.. but some of the prices are ridiculous. Anyone know where I can get Crumpler bags or similar bags at a discounted or cheaper price? Thanks  :D I should probably go to bed now.

this is why i wish i could drive/had a car, so I could leave half my crap i need in there and go back to get it between classes and such. Instead i'm in the same dilemma as you and don't know where to find a good bag that isn't completely hideous... lol

Looks nice bubble, the other consideration is that my laptop is very large [37.5 x 26.9 x 4.4 cm (W x D x H)] and I'm not sure many bags will fit it. It's around the same dimensions as a 17" Macbook Pro.

Lolz, when I read the title of this thread I was like "Get a Crumpler bag". But you're one step ahead.
No idea where you can get them cheap. Ask for one as a Christmas present maybe?

Hey. I recall that the bicycle store at Melb Uni bicycle store at union house sells them...And they probably sell them at a discounted price to students...I would have to check though when I get back to uni on January 5.

I had one of those all of last year; then I switched to a wheely-bag... That one hurt my back too much. :S

I heard a rumour they sell them at 15% less to students, I might ask my cousin. I'll be going to Monash, so I can't hehe.

How heavy is your lappy Excal? Mine's around 2.5kg's.

nooooo! i find crumpler bags really... hideous. also, i don't think messenger bags will be very good for your shoulders/back if you're going to be carrying around a couple of kgs day in day out, unless you're a cyclist.

Backpack. I had to resort to one after laptop + books (sometimes) + lunch (sometimes).
