Interesting that you say "Economists against Barack Obama" in the message title, when the website's address is clearly "economists for John McCain".

It is further interesting that on the page to which you linked, no mention whatsoever is made of Obama. In fact, you have to actually dig around the site to see material that is critical of Obama's policies. One would think that that site isn't so much about being "against" Obama as you so put it, but rather championing what these economists see as the merits of McCain's policy.

Injecting a little personal bias of your own there, Brendan? :)

Well, I think one is safe to assume that if you are in favour of McCain, you are not in favour of Obama.

It's not an exclusive list though. You'll find more economists against Obama who might support other candidates, or decide that none of them are good enough...

I was waiting for that argument to be made :)

If you're willing to assume that, then he has to include all other presidential candidates!

Title should be revised to:

"Assumed Economists against Barack Obama, Ralph Nader, Bob Barr, Charles Baldwin, Cynthia McKinney, Alan Keyes, Gloria La Riva, Brian Moore and Roger Calero"

...

No one cares about them. If they did, then they'd be on debates, and actually mentioned on the news.

You're pretty defensive mate. I would have settled for saying he's stirring shit, and you're a victim of it actually.

People like Obama (see the poll here), and to hear about people who aren't going to vote him is going to make some of Obama's fans unhappy.

Well quite clearly you have two choices for president: McCain or Obama.

If you are an economist and you've signed a statement declaring that you are for McCain, it's not a big leap to then imply that you are not for Obama.

Right, but just because you support McCain doesn't mean you're AGAINST Barack Obama. Have you asked every single economist on that list whether they're AGAINST Barack Obama gaining the presidency? Perhaps they PREFER McCain but just because you PREFER someone doesn't mean you're AGAINST the other.

But you've two choices: mccain or obama. I think if there is any personal bias showing on this thread, it is yours.

Nah man, stop deflecting attention away from your own self. Just admit that the "against Barack Obama" came from you.

Nah man, stop deflecting attention away from your own self.

Unlike others I don't feel the need the direct attention towards myself.

I actually should credit Harvard Professor Greg Mankiw for finding the lists: http://gregmankiw.blogspot.com/2008/10/economists-against-obama.html

If you want a more explicit list of Against Obama economists here is one: http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/News/PressReleases/96557315-1694-4d8f-9b0a-c29f0f0872e6.htm with the same people as in the other list

No, they might also be FOR Obama's plan. Did you check that each one of those 535 signatories didn't also say they liked Obama's economic plan?

No, you didn't. And don't say it's assumed, because you can't prove that. All you know is that they like McCain's plan. :) That's a logical flaw to just assume they're against Obama. Silly bwendan.
