I like this, in the fact that Rudd shows that freer markets is the best for any agenda:

"Mr. Rudd is showing that it is possible to embrace the global economy while pursuing a social-democratic agenda. In fact, Mr. Rudd would probably point out that a healthy appreciation for the benefits and disciplines of global markets makes such an agenda more practical."

Ah!!!

This is what I had been the opinion of for months but thought my views were isolated:

"In a major policy address in New York earlier this year, Mr. Rudd explained his outlook this way. "The new Australian Labor government," he said, "is . . . unashamedly pro-market, pro-business and pro-globalization. That is our policy orientation because we believe it is in the best interests of the working families who trusted us with the responsibility of government.""

Well I'm yet to see the abolition of tarriffs on imports, corporate income taxes, capital income taxes, and the removal of subsidies to numerous industries such as the car industry and the coal industry.

Of course that's true. Only socialists would have you believe that such policies would lead to inequality, and hence lead to supposedly negative effects for society. Even if inequality did rise, I'm pretty sure the poor and the middle class don't really care about the rich people up there, they just want to have as much access to goods and services as possible, and globalisation and deregulation unlocks that!
