mirrors, signal, headcheck. that all seems easy enough :) but i bet i wont do it often enough. i like look when im changing lanes and stuff, but i dont look behind me when im like turning left into a side street or whatever cos i didnt think there was a need, but i had a lesson the other day and she was all telling me off cos im ment to  :-\ i hate learning and driving

Haha, i would suggest not just glancing at the mirrors, but really exaggerate it by moving your head so that they can really see that you are looking. This is a basic run down of what happens test day:
The test is in two stages, first stage goes for about 15 mins, and they test one of the parallel park/3 point turn/??U-turn??. One of my family friends is a license tester and apparently this stage is to just see for themselves whether they think you are safe enough to go out on the roads and do the course.  They then say "pull over", just relax, it doesn't mean you have failed. They add up all the marks and if you have passed the first section, you then move onto the second section which goes for about 20-25 mins, and here they test all the rest of the stuff like changing lanes, e.t.c.. Once you do that, its back to vic roads, park the car and that's it.

haha awesome. it all sounds like a big stage act... all exaggerating everything just so the assessor can see that yes i am looking in the mirror. heh. i hate this.

My driving instructor subtly suggested I wear glasses, so the assessor could not c wot I was looking @ and would find it difficult 2 take points off bcoz there was a 'chance' I mite not have looked.

A friend of mine who got their p's said that its better to be a little tad under the speed limit as when the inspector looks across at the speedo it seems like your doing the correct speed. (optical illusion)
But if your on the correct speed and they look over, it seems like your going too fast!! :| :| :|

A general rule i hear from everyone is to stay 5km below the speed limit. You're exactly in the middle of too fast and too slow

The "optical illusion" idea would depend on the car (because each speedo looks slightly different)

You can't go slower than 10kms under the limit though lol.

I passed my hazards today. If anyone is gonna do it soon.

IF YOU SEE THE TRAM. FUCKEN BRAKE!!! i took out the poor guy coming off the tram.. bam... dead.

i went around 15kms under the speed limit and still passed, it was in a residential street with heaps of parked cars on the road and i didnt feel it was safe to go any faster

Yeah thats fine but you can't go incredibly slow throughout your whole test. It would imply that you didn't have the confidence to drive :P.

Yeh on my hazards i killed a guy on a motorbike, t-boned a ute and killed a family of 4, good thing it's not real life

in that case it's ok because it's a packed area, but you can't go say 40km/h on Princess Hwy for example.
