It's not probable dusty. The location is not convenient for the majority of students so I doubt you'll see a massive jump in the ENTER. All the best.

thanks costargh

i agree. where the hell is this waranbaul or whatever. I'm sure if i was very keen on doing law and didn't get the ENTER requirements for any other law course in any other institution, then i still wouldn't apply to that waranbool. It's not worth it in my case. I'd rather do a bridging course or transfer later on to a uni more convenient to were i live. Many applicants would think the same i would assume.

i disagree. I do want to do law, and doing a bridging course is risky. In the end i might not get in at all. Whereas, going to warnambool i'll be doing bachelor of law, i can transfere after a year to the burwood campus and also it will be a good learning experience and to be independant. :) i think some would think that as a positive aspect, i'd assume.

Yes it does.

Dusty, you do know that only the first 2 years of Law for Deakin are at Warnambool right? (If I am correct)

on the deakin site it said this

"Admission to legal practice
At present, to qualify for admission as a barrister and solicitor in Victoria, university graduates are required to complete legal traineeships (previously known as articles of clerkship) for one year or to complete a legal practice course such as those offered by the Leo Cussen Institute or Monash University."

Yes it does.

*transfer :P (sorry, but you've made that spelling mistake before and had it pointed out to you, and it irritates me for some stupid reason).

So Dusty, if you do complete a law degree, what do you plan to do with it? Do you wish to become a barrister or something? (just out of interest)

lol i'll eventually get that right and my other spelling. :)
i want to do solicitor work. one night i stayed up until i think it was 3am in the morning searching career paths and things. so i had a long hard think about law before putting warnambool down as a preference.

yeah sounds good to me if you can afford it. i always wanted to do the whole college experience thing. Do you become a resident at a college in warnambool?

its $7000 per year for accomadation, but centerlink should cover that. good old centerlink. i have set aside money for the down payment, which means yes i will become a resident. im really looking forward to see if i get accepted into law and to live on campus. i'll probably be granted to live on campuse because i live so far away. it will be a good learning experience for me anyway :) if i do need any financial support, my parents have set me out a bit of money JUST to help out.
lol, i hope not many spelling errors were made in this :P

Have you looked into whether you'd be eligible for CentreLink? I's not as easy as it sounds, unfortunately :(

ABSTUDY is only for people over 25....(I think)...
(someone please correct me if im wrong).

If you were applying for anything from Centrelink, then you would be applying for "Youth Allowance"

Yeh you should. Also look at University scholarships for moving away. Deakin does have financial assistance for people moving away from home so look into that too. I think its thru the government some sorta moving away from home scholarship

You don't just get rent or board assistance just for the hell of it...
Quite a few of my friends are on Youth Allowance (they either have low income parents or they've claimed independence and earnt $15,000 over 18 months or whatever it is). But yeah, look into CentreLink extreeeeemely carefully.

How to apply
Commencing students - VTAC applicants
