Happy, this is all a result of stress, due to anxiety over your vce performances.

If it makes you feel better we are all in the same boat as you!

Go out and hang out with some friends, seriously, nothing you do now can change your results just take ur mind off it Yeh go see ur GP if u want........

Year 12 is only a small thing compared to the rest of ur life. Leading executives of top law firms/ business bodies failed high school and they are millionaires. You are expecting what 70?
Thats not so bad at all. If you get into a shitty uni course u can always get in post grad to do ur dream course.

Please don't make absolute statements regarding Alana's health. How do you know it's anxiety? She needs to go and see a doctor, especially if she's finding the symptoms quite distressing.

Anxiety/stress is not the only cause of the symptoms she's experiencing. For example, hypothyroidism can cause the symptoms she's listed (although I don't want to startle you Alana, it could be nothing, and it's probably not that, but I'm just making the point that they have no idea what on earth they're talking about :))

Medicine should be like this:
Rule out all possible physical causes, then go down the psychological path. Not the other way around! It's dangerous.

See a doctor.

Where do you pick up all these medical terms, jessie? I'm intrigued ;D I've heard hypothyroidism from watching a TV show (yes, House M.D. :P).

Haha, when you spend a lot of time in hospital and with an illness, you pick up a thing or two :P

Also, my dad's a doctor and my mum's a nurse. I've been surrounded by medical text books and terminology my whole life lol.

Try drinking some green tea or tea with chamomile in it. Also have you tried counting sheep, this doesnt generally work but the best way is to count "sleeping" sheep.

I'd be scared if I had that, Jessie! (I just read up on it. :(). Ironically, I am actually experiencing most of those symptoms (my neck is so stiff it's not funny :(). Well, I guess it is best to go to the doctor, and see what happens. Thanks everyone for trying to make me feel better! :)

Maybe try n exercise abit, go on a jog, ride a bike, play a sport with friends or anything that gets you working. So then when you go to bed you will be tired and maybe then you could get a good nights sleep.

I will be tutoring Specialist/Methods in 2009. PM me if interested!

I remember having the exact same symptoms - so much so that I got screened for leukaemia...thankfully that came back negative.

I'd see a doctor to get things checked out.

Okay, I went to see a doctor today, and basically, I'm just really stressed and suffering from depression and stuff. So the doctor didn't really take it as seriously as I think he should have, and just gave me some pills. :(

I don't really want to take the sleeping pills, because I don't want to feel 'drugged'. My doctor didn't help me at all. :(

(Should I also see a counselor, because I think my emotional problems may also be contributing to my depression and subsequent sleep deprivation?)

Well if there are other things going on in your life, you know, relationship problems with whomever, then maybe a counselor is a good idea. But otherwise maybe wait it out for 12 more days?
Don't have emotional problems. You're HAPPY!

Lol, there's a lot you don't know about me. :P But I'm trying to remain positive regardless of what else is going on. :)

What sedatives did he prescribe you? How long did he say to take them for? Did he devise any treatment plans? Did he investigate any possible physical causes?

Did he refer you to a psychologist/psychiatrist? Make follow up appointments?

He just prescribed me some melatonin, and told me to take it easy and that it should work. But I don't really know? Aren't these bad if they are used continuously? I'm scared. :(

He basically said that some causes were stress throughout the year, and also emotional problems. I'm also dehydrated, as the heater is constantly on in the house, even during bed time, and I find it much more difficult to sleep in the hot as I do in the cold. Then I have neck swelling (although I don't think it is really related).

He was not too helpful at all! >:(
