ok, my brother is on the main computer(that is the comp connected to the router) and he is on it like 15 hours a day playing games and downloading stuff and doesnt let any1 else go on, if they ask to go on he will go crazy.

Im asking if there is a way to disconnect the internet on the main comp from my laptop but only disconnect from the main comp not the laptop aswell. Ive read around that i can do some sort of ip adress thing how would i go about doing that?

I have dlink 504-t router

If he's not too good with computers, you can block the site from your router settings. (On mine, I can restrict sites.)
And if he gets smart, I think you can find a huge list of proxies some where and block all those too.)

MAC address filtering. Your router will most likely have it. (make sure you put a password on the router though)

Find the MAC address for your laptop, put that in "allow", and then you can allow his at certain times/never (lol).

How exactly would i enable MAC filtering? I went to 10.1.1.1 and clicked on DHCP but there is alot things there, what specifically do i have to do? Like it has Starting IP Address, Ending IP Address, Lease Time, DNS Mode, Primary DNS, Secondary DNS, Static IP Assignment:MAC adress/ip adress, Static IP1, Static IP2:, etc...

Hmm your router doens't have it.
Why did the URL filtering reset when he unplugged it? Did you block the url for all IP addresses?

Under the 'parent control' tab it says 'URL block: enter the url to block' and thats it..There is also an option for domain block?

Best suggestion : Get his account banned ;).  It's for his own good. It is an addictive game - some idiots actually think of dying when they get hacked or scammed.

yeh getting him banned will be the best option, starting from scratch after being a high level on runescape is pretty hard, will surely make his enthusiasm drop :)

Is this even the best way around it? Software/hardware blocking isn't the problem; it's the fact that he's addicted to gaming to the point that he'll throw tantrums when being taken away from it. If you block him from it somehow, he's going to go nuts anyway - especially if he doesn't see the problem in his behaviour. I think it's best left up to your parents to sort this out because there's more at hand here than just simply blocking Runescape...

Nah don't get his account banned. Even if he might see his wrongdoings, if he's spent 2000 hours on Runescape only to lose everything in the end, he's going to be pissed either way. :P
