RPG: Diablo II
RTS: Starcraft
Platformer: Any 2D Mario game.

Edit: LOL I said SCII when it's not even out yet :(

The Halo series was great fun at school. 1 person brought the portable version - then all of a sudden in 2 weeks the whole school plays it LOL.

The Legend of ZELDA (for DS) is probably my favourite DS game to date.

Portal is also awesomeness :D
