Plus i felt sorry for the guy.
I always have to keep in mind whether or not they will be spending it scoring their next hit. I have heard different people on the trains on many occasions talking about how much money they managed to get in a day, and the gear they spent it on. My money is NOT going on that shit. If I notice they are wearing half decent clothes or watch/whatever, I'll be a bit more cautious.

I'd rather give my money to a Big Issue vendor (LES!) who stands outside all day trying to earn a bit of money, then some potentially dodgy beggar.

OMG, I feel so sorry for those people. :(... There is this one in the city I always see, who seems to have a mental disorder, and I just felt like giving him some money. :S (I think he is always in front of Myer?)

Keep the money and keep walking :D

If I gave it to him/her, someone would just take it.

A blind beggar... surely he'd b on a disability pension of some sort?

I would b suspicious 2 b honest, for the reasons bturville said.

If I had some way of knowing that he was genuine, then I wouldn't hesitate 2 give him the whole $100 and help him go buy some essentials with it so he didn't get ripped off.

You know, people on VN don't take polls seriously...

...if you put 'use the $100 to buy all the Krispy Kremes you can' as a option or 'prostitute droodles', just watch the results come in.

This was more of a hypothetical situation :P

Is the society so bad that they would steal from a blind beggar? I mean I've heard of American youths douse bums in petrol and set them on fire but I'm not sure about the Australian society.

Can I please add "prostitute droodles" to the poll, pleasepleaseplease :P

I'd like to think that:
1) I'm a decent judge of character and I'd be able to tell if the beggar was genuine; and
2) I'd give him the money, because I know that I'd just spend it on coffee, Boost and makeup >_>

But in reality I think I'd probably just give him like $20 or something and keep the rest for myself :P

Was sitting in the train the other day and saw a disabled man just sitting there on those wheelchairs. He had a paper attached to his wheelchair, so i read it, it said something along the lines of 'Hello my name is Johnie, I wish everyone a happy christmas. Would you please supprt me and some charity(cant remember the name) and buy a chubba chup for 85 cents each'. I felt sorry for the poor man and remembered that i had one dollar left in my bag. So i gave him the dollar and let him keep the change. When i got home i ate the chuba chop(well i was biting it) and the filling my dentist just put for my teeth the day before got stuffed and its killing now...

If i didnt feel sorry for the guy this would of neve happened, yeh Merry Christmas to u2.
