Warner's definitely opening, Punter's said as much.

Picking Harris is a joke. That guy cannot play for shit. If they wanted a decent bowling allrounder they should've gone with Noffke or well, anyone else.

And I think it's a bit silly to be picking Warner. The guy can hit the ball something fierce (look up the one-dayer century he hit for NSW earlier this season) but there are plenty of tried and true batsmen in the domestic scene who ought to make the cut above him. Brad Hodge alone would probably feel hard done by.

yeah, the 6/13 in the t20 ipl was mad. he's a gun, left hander who bowls with the unconventional foot action. i remember commentators once saying about tanvir "arms, legs, you fon't know what to watch"

Brad Hodge will always for his entire life feel hard done by I feel, he was unlucky enough to prove himself time and time again and still miss out on a place. I think Australia's trying to get any young gun to inject some life into the dressing room, only problem is he'll be facing Steyn and Ntini/Morkel first up and I that's pretty high quality bowling to be opening against. If he double fails in the T20s then his career will sort of be put on standby I would imagine and that would be bad for his morale.

Pakistanis have come around to Australia coz they aren't getting any games in Pakistan these days. Umar Gul and Tanvir are almost perfect for T20 matches. Tanvir's random action and Gul's variation keeps the batsman guessing enough to limit the damage during the first six overs and then they're under pressure anyway. Quite a bit of T20 coming up this year, there's the IPL (I've heard the trade window for the IPL is going on now but haven't heard of any trades other than Kolkata Knight Riders wanna get rid of Shoaib Akhtar and that all the franchises are fighting for Kevin Pietersen), then there's the World Twenty20 Cup (last time that was awesome, the semi-final and final were pro as) and finally the Champions League T20 nestled nicely right before VCE exams...

Yeah they should have IPL in July and Champions League in December to accomodate for the large audience of VCE students in Australia :)

Is the IPL on in July this year?

And does anyone agree that the days of the 50 over game are numbered?

Nah IPL is during April again.

And I reckon ODIs still have a place in the game. 20/20 cricket is still, for me anyway, simply an entertainment format and not a reflection of how good a team is necessarily. I'm not sure if cricket can survive on just having one format that decides which team is the best.
Also, a lot of people still turn out to ODI games so there's no problem there. I reckon the # of ODIs/year will decrease but that's about it.

Aussies are ripping... South Africa are 2/7 chasing 183 to win in the Twenty20.
