Did a bit more searching, supposedly this is straight from an official artbook.  The "false alarm" is because it isn't a direct confirmation (ie. not an "official announcement") but as Jamison said, it's probably related to evil marketting people being evil and trying to get us hyped up for something they're trying ot hide.

I've got the Anime lying somewhere on my computer in my DVD collection, but I can never get around to watching it.  >_>;;

Anyone following Dragon Ball Kai?  Loving the filler-less DBZ.  =)

Apparently the rough translations are heavily pointing towards these being from the second season :D

The 8th episode of an ongoing rerun of the series is listed as "Sasa no Ha Rhapsody" ("Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody"), which is a title of a story that has not been adapted yet.

Update on May 18th, 10:00 am JST
The subtitle of the episode was erased from TV Wakayama's website. The 8th episode in question will be aired on SUN TV on May 21st, at 24:40 am JST.

According to GIGAZINE, TV Wakayama staff said they were not supposed to disclose the subtitle of Haruhi episode. They refused to tell GIGAZINE if the new episode is scheduled to be aired on the day.

Apparently "Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody" from Haruhi season 2 will be shown in a couple hours, if this is true, both 2ch and 4chan are gonna explode :D
