Yeah ongoing series, 24 episodes in total according to MAL
MAL link: http://myanimelist.net/anime/6746/Durarara!!

Don't wait for it to be finished TT, start watching it now and enjoy the suspense!

lulz, Code Geass was painful to wait for. OH THE SUSPENSE!

Sorry, another question regarding Higurashi, which fansub would you recommend? I've heard Ayu is decent, but I would prefer higher HQ video (I've heard they are only 700x400 res), have u seen Exiled Destiny subs?
I watched Higurashi with Ayu for the first season and Hauu~ for the second. I've watched Exiled Destiny subs for other series, and although the video quality is better, the subs are sub-par and the font's quite ugly.

Thanks, I guess I'll dl ep 1 with Ayu and ep 2 with ED, although I do agree E-D Kanon subs were awful, and the video increase was only very slight. (while the filesize was over double of eclipse)

Yeh, I dl'ed Fruits Basket from E-D and it was ~350 MB for a 640x480 res. Not fking worth it.

Ah screw it, I'm going with Ayu, E-D makes me cross just thinking about them and their bad encodes.

Alright, starting Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (When They Cry season 1), however just some questions.

How bad is the gore? Would someone who isn't phased by Baccano, Elfen Lied and other gorey films/series (ie. Dead Set, Kill Bill) be fine watching this?

Also, how often and how graphic is the torture? I'm usually great with gore in fights, but I always get squeamish with torture.
I'd rate the gore below Elfen Lied level, so you should be fine. It's not really that graphical, but the sounds and the voices do amplify the horror. As for the torture scenes; I admit that they did make me cringe (fingernails being ripped out, anyone?), but again, not really graphical.

EDIT: Aha, did you enjoy Baccano? Rail Tracer is such a damn awesome character.

I'm about to start Elfen Lied, but I was wondering exactly how much gore is there???
Not that I overly mind it :)

Lots of gore, but it isn't too bad. My biggest program with Elfen Lied was the abundant nudity, makes it kind of awkward to watch, especially since they all look like children

Hmmm ... ok thanks for that!

EDIT: I've now watched most of it, I reckon a lot of the gore is really unnecessary, I mean, do they have to rip everyone's limbs and heads off??? :P

Going to watch Umineko after Higurashi, which reminds me, is Umineko actually any good? I've heard it got pretty bad by the end.

Just saw this picture, and it pretty much sums up my thoughts after the first episodes of Gundam 00:

Shamelessly stolen from 'gg “viewers choice” awards 2009'

Please note: I think the image is from Code Geass? However, so far, Celestial Being seems very similar to Zero Requiem.

The Umineko anime does not do the VN justice. It was kinda rushed and missed out on some important clues which were included in the VN, so yeh, lots of people thought it was a rather bad adaptation. I'd suggest reading the VN if you have the time, definitely a worthwhile read.
