im worried about my sister. she has no idea what to do when she "grows up" and lacks any motivation to try to work out what she wants. and with year 12 looming mum is putting pressure onto everyone to work out what we are doing. with midwifery as my aspiration, what is an ambiguous or open course i can suggest to my sister? appart from arts?

What is she interested in? Does she like writing, or she a more  of a technical person?

Make her complete a career quiz, it might open some doors to what careers she could go for.

It's completely understandable for her to not know what she wants to do. She'll sort it out eventually, and until then she might try out a bunch of different things. As long as she's trying her best (to keep her options open as much as possible) it doesn't matter, and it's really common also.

As for a recommended course, it depends solely on what subjects she likes and is good at. Ask her what her favourite subjects are or what her favourite thing to do is what she vaguely wants out of a career (money? enjoyment? travel? purpose?). As long as she follows her interests, she can't really go wrong.

thanks guys. the thing is that nothing interests her. rebellious teen i guess. she likes mcr and twilight. thats about it. she does ok at everything. but is lazy and doesnt try. i wish i could push her to find at least something she liked. mum offered her a chef apprenteship, to which she refused simply because she wanted to stay at school with her friends. i dont understand how a person can lack drive to the point where they dont care about anything. hmmm.

She is in  Year 12 now? One of my friends didn't know what career to choose, but made up his mind a week before VTAC preferences lol

I'm starting 2nd year Uni this year, and I still don't know!

So it's not the end of the world.
