Internet on ipod touch

i have an ipod touch but whenever im at a place that offers free wireless it wont connect.
Can anyone help me with connecting to the internet on my ipod

I don't have an iPod Touch, but I do have an iPhone and I'm pretty sure they're practically identical (other than the using it as a phone feature :P)

But I'm pretty sure you would go into the settings, then to the wi-fi menu, and it should start searching for some wireless networks automatically. If the place does offer free internet than it shouldn't have a WEP or WPA key that would grant you access (unless they tell you it).


By the way, where is this place, just out of curiosity. I wasn't aware that there was any place that offers free wi-fi in Australia. Usually those type of things are reserved for Americans only.
