Going Overseas Vaccinations and Camera

I'm going to Indonesia (Yogyakarta) for about 2 and a half weeks in June/July on an anthropology study trip thing. I looked at vaccination recommendations, and I need to get shots for things like malaria, hep A, and some others. I was wondering if anyone knew a) how to get them; and b) how much they'll cost. Do I just turn up to the doctor and ask for them, or is there more to it than that (there would be, wouldn't there?).

The other thing, I'm looking into getting a camera to take with me, like a nice one. The thing is, I hear it may pose a security issue (as in, it would have a great risk of getting stolen). Also, the place where we're staying isn't particularly affluent and I wouldn't want a camera to alienate me from the society I'm meant to be studying. I'll ask the lecturer about it when classes start next term, I was just wondering if anyone knew the general attitudes of people in developing parts of Indonesia to gadgets. (also, if anyone could suggest a camera that looks really shoddy but is in actuality really awesome, that would be great)

When I had to get vaccinations because I was going to some of the poor parts of China, my mum just called up the doctor and said that I needed a vaccination and went from there. Find a medical centre near you and give them a call and see what they say. No idea about the cost, it wouldn't be covered by Medicare would it?

Just see a doctor, they get these sorts of enquiries more often than you can point a stick at.

As for a camera, I'd just bring one of those one-use disposable cameras? Or a couple? I'm not sure which part of Indonesia you went to, but a friend of mine recently came back with plenty of photos taken on a digital - I didn't really think, consequently, the impact is that severe? Just gotta make sure you keep it safe...

I won't really be in a tourist hotspot like Bali, but I think there is a lot of tourism. I'm more worried about alienating the locals than getting stuff stolen, tbh.

Thanks for the advice! I'll call up a doctor when the trip gets closer.

is the local populace devoutly Muslim? for some, taking pictures offends their sensibilites

I've been looking at wiki and apparently it's a student city and a 'haven for underground art'. So I'm thinking a camera might be fine. But that's in the city part though. I'm not sure where I'm staying exactly, but I think it's slightly more rural.

I wouldn't leave it till less than 3 months to go. Some injections require multiple courses (with time intervals) to be effective.
