Hey all,
The 13 inch white macbook is what im thinking of getting. The price i can get it for is $1590,
i was wondering
  • what programs are already installed
  • do i have to purchase iworks or is it already in it? (i need this for school purposes)
  • Does the Mac Os cd come with it?
  • What else do i need to get when i purchases macbook? (protection?)

I have a histroy of using PC, now im planning to change over to mac ,hopefully it would be awesome!
Thanks!

  • Comes with iLife, which includes multimedia stuff like iDVD, Garageband, iPhoto, iMovie whatever
  • iWorks does not come with it, but seriously, get Office for Mac 08
  • Yes, I believe it does
  • Do you mean physical protection?...one of those laptop sleeve things? If you mean like antivirus, don't think it's necessary.

The new macbook is

Sexier (significantly, glass to glass screen, all aluminium, battery indicator on side)
Lighter & Thinner (2.27 kg vs 2.04 kg)
Has better battery life (5 hrs vs 4.5hrs)
Has a larger hard disk (160gb vs 120g)

A big drawcard is the trackpad, which is massive, and can do touch gestures i.e. swipes, pinch to zoom, four fingers = expose etc. Try it out, it's pretty cool

I think he meant can't.. but there are a few commercial games (especially Blizzard ones) that are compatible with Mac. There are also open source ones. You could also use the default OS switching thing or obtain software that allows you to run Windows' apps without switching OS's.

Get the Macbook if you want. You won't regret it (I like PCs equally, though).

They are a few?! Most EA games are compatible for Macs now.

The preinstalled programs are:

 - iLife suite
 - iWork 90 day trial
 - etc
(full list at www.apple.com/mac)

When I bought my PB in 2004, I got a backup disc of Mac OS X Panther (which I still have <3) so yep. You don't need protection, there's no point? lol

Doesn't that...take away the point of buying a Mac? Mac users seem to always have to crawl back to Windows...

no. No it doesn't, it's just a means of running a windows app (such as DirectX 9-10 accelerated game) that can't be run   under virtualisation.
