It's repairable, yes (I accidentally tore the microphone off through my own stupidity). It's not one of the sorts of devices you just chuck away - you fix it.

I was given a quote of ~$50 for it.

yay i got the headset!!! quite comfortable and quality is very good, although theres no volume control on the headset... mmm microphone sounds pretty good.... and yeah 4/5 stars lol !


hey how do you mute the microphone if your not using it?

Use Windows to manage your volume - adding volume control on the hardware is just another point of potential failure.

You'll have to mute your microphone at the application level - this varies depends on the application you're using. Alternatively, you can also mute it via Windows - open Volume Control, select Options > Properties, select Recording and press OK. You should be then able to mute or turn your mic down to zero.
