Everyone thank Worm's Math Academy for being so quick with solutions. He does Victorian Methods students a generous favour if you have seen his other videos.

From my POV as a tutor this exam seemed noticeably easier than last years. Would expect cut-offs to be similar to the 2015 Exam 1 distribution.

ETA: I may be wrong and it may be more like 2017 distribution. It was definitely easier than last year exam imo

You really know how to deflate everyone's confidence. Should be really proud of yourself!

Have a look at my contributions to this forum (not to mention the invisible ones in PMs) before you say something like this. If only you realised how silly it was you wouldn't have said it.

If you want an echo chamber of 'this was the hardest exam ever omfg' check out VCE Discussion space instead. I provided my perspective for those here who want a realistic understanding of where they stand.

What was the A+ cut off for 2015 and 2017? What score would I need in exam 2 to get a 40, with 88% sacs and 34/40 on exam 1? Feeling really stressed for tomorrow :(

I’m trying to get a raw 40. Sac marks around 75% and just got 31/40 for that exam. What do you guys think I’m going to need to get tomorrow to get that 40

You can check out the grade distributions online by just searching for ‘2017 grade distribution’ and finding the methods one. But I recommend not bothering right now.

Here’s the truth - Even after accounting for difficulty of this year’s exam in relation to last years, you’re still in a better position to get a 40+ than I was. I only managed to score a 31 in exam 1 last year. In the end I still managed to get a 43 raw. You’d think I must have aced the exam but even on Exam 2 I got 67/80 which is a good score but not necessarily an excellent one. Depending on the difficulty of the exam tomorrow you can still get a 40 or even higher dependent on your internal SAC ranking and the difficulty of exam 2. I hope this gives you some confidence.

Here’s my advice - Forget about the grade distributions and your performance on exam 1. Believe in your self and give it your best shot for exam 2. Worry about the end result later.

sooo apparently we were meant to use only pen in this years examination where in previous years they said you can also use pencil

our supervisors didn’t advise to us anything on the materials we had to use or tell us to read the front page (i would’ve assumed it would be the same rules from previous exams)

i used only pencil, it was a 2B lead pencil, i was wondering what would happen if they receive an exam that was written only in pencil.

In my opinion, despite how standard the exam was, the A+ cutoff will not change that much and I doubt it would be as high as 37/40. In 2018, you had 4 marks of <10% of the state getting the answer and this year, I believe that the range question (2) and the last question (1) could easily qualify, making it 3 marks of <10% - not far from last year. Of course, the last question is debatable, since many would have guessed it right. But, I'd still be willing to predict a 35/40 cutoff for A+ based on my experience last year and this year (repeating methods lol).

Thank you so much for this!! I'm feeling much more motivated for tomorrow and I will be happy knowing that whatever study score I get, I tried by absolute best!

I asked about this in a separate thread, but what's the probability of me getting a 25 raw study score? My sacs this year were 25% unit 3 and 48% and 65% unit 4. In a cohort of 20-ish students, easily the worst in my class. Believe I achieved at least a 40% on this exam.
