Hiya AFL fans!

Round 1 of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season 2016 is rapidly approaching, with the Tigers set to take on Carlton on Thursday night.

With this in mind, i've created a 2016 tipping competition for AN users (feel free to join). What you need to do:

1. Sign up using the official AFL website (http://tipping.afl.com.au/)
2. Go to "Comps" -> "Join a Comp"
3. Where it says "Enter comp code or name" enter in TMKSUHD3
4. Join

Your weekly tips and overall scores will be handled by the AFL system, so please don't contact me about this!

Wishing everyone the best of luck with their tipping this season. Submit your tips by Thursday!

Joined! My lack of AFL knowledge will be revealed to all hahaha

Might head down to a few random MCG games after hospital given I'm within walking distance and have a cheeky MCC membership ;) Shame my team will be as competitive as my local under 12s hahaha

I'm thinking Richmond v. Carlton, Melbourne v. Greater Western Sydney and Geelong v. Hawthorn. But I guess the Melbourne game is the only one I will absolutely, definitely go to.

Oxford comma, Garamond, Avett Brothers, Orla Gartland enthusiast.

Thanks to everyone who has already signed up for the tipping! If anyone else wants to join and compete "in house" so to speak, feel free to follow my previous post. The first round starts on Thursday night so ideally if you want to join, do so by then. Cheers!

An idea of my tips for this week:

GWS
Essendon
North Melbourne
Sydney
Fremantle

Brave tip!

I know it is - the odds are definitely against them winning, but I think the "top up" players Essendon has will outclass them. GC are still a pretty subpar team tbh. Me tipping Essendon doesn't mean I think they'll be gods and make the top 8, because I don't think they will. Just in the situation of GC vs Essendon, I think they will overcome their problems and win.

Edit (24/3): I just saw that Ablett will be in for GC. I wonder if he can take them over the line?

Last chance to get involved with the footy tipping this year. If you're even remotely interested in AFL, get involved with tipping. Only requirement is that you submit your tips once a week (takes <5 minutes). Expand spoiler below for details on how to join:

I've tipped the might pies to beat the Swans. If they win I reckon I'll top today's round as I think everyone else has the same tips.

Go pies!

A nice fact to think about: North Melbourne haven't won a Round 1 game since Brad Scott took over as coach (which was 6 or 7 years ago now...)

Hopefully Saturday night is the first!

Oh god, this game! I can't tell whether Richmond are playing bad, or Carlton are playing good ??
