In Malekv's case, that's because Melbourne Guaranteed atar Access program only applies to the category of finacially disadvantaged and/or rural areas.

But how does that guy who got 85.05 get in, and I don't? The guaranteed place is for 95+, and without Access Melbourne the cutoff is 98.80. I am actually so confused right now.

Trust me, he is just as confused. He has no idea how that happened. I had SEAS and am a kwong lee dow young scholar, so I think that's why.  Because he didn't even make the clearly in for science. It's a bit strange.

Is it at all possible that unimelb made any mistakes? Since quite a few people on this thread seem to have had problems...

Just to clarify, if you have a SEAS application then you can get into any course with any score, that's the entire point. You don't need >95 to get into biomedicine with SEAS. All SEAS applications are considered individually and are hence subjective, so somebody with an ATAR of 85 may get in, despite a higher ATAR missing out.

However, if you feel something has gone wrong, feel free to message the university (email, phone or fb)

Like Ferrsal said, he must have had a really strong seas application.
From the same website I quoted:
If my ATAR is below the guaranteed ATAR, can I still be considered for a place at the
University of Melbourne

Yes. These are the minimum ATARs for a guaranteed Access Melbourne place. All Access Melbourne applicants will be considered on an individual basis and may be selected from below this threshold. This also applies to applicants who add a University of Melbourne course to their preference list during the Change of Preference period.

Also, I heard kwong lee kow also decrease the atar required(not too sure how it works though).

So it can be either one of them and doesn't have to be both to get the guaranteed spot?

All Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars who:

Achieve an ATAR of 95.00 (90.00 if your school is considered an underrepresented school in the year of application)
Meet all course prerequisites
Apply for one of the following University of Melbourne degrees through VTAC:
Bachelor of Arts
Bachelor of Biomedicine*
Bachelor of Commerce
Bachelor of Environments
Bachelor of Science
will be guaranteed a place in that course in the year following Year 12 (the normal deferral policy will still apply)#.

This means that even if the Clearly-in Rank for the course is over 95.00, you will still be offered a place*#.

Guarantee does not include Chancellor's Scholars Program. International Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars are subject to the international guaranteed entry requirements.

*A quota may apply for the Bachelor of Biomedicine.
#Entry cannot be guaranteed into the Bachelor of Music as selection takes into consideration a range of criteria including an audition and musicianship test.

From my experiences with dealing with Melbourne Uni SEAS and in particular the guaranteed entry, they are very stringent on the evidence.  So the problem may lie with the evidence such as proof of Centrelink benefits.

Sorry if I came across as rude or ungrateful up there guys, I swear I didn't mean to be :( the whole SEAS thing makes more sense now.
Do you think it is possible I could score a second round offer for Biomed?
