Firstly, please read this thread.
This is the place to discuss how you went, congratulate other people on their results, and generally talk about the release of ATARs and/or individual scores.
-
Wow Physics is a joke... 3 days of study and A+ exam 2? :P
-
I cannot believe I got a 50 for Further. I cannot thank this forum enough for the amazing support I've received throughout the year. I know I've been an absolute pain in the arse at times, and I will probably continue to be for the next 12 months, but there is no way I could've done this without you all. I cannot express my gratitude in words.
THANK YOU ATARNOTES! <3
-
I finish one essay and leave two unfinished in the exam due to me being in some type of panicky frozen state and I manage a 37...I'll take it hahaha.
-
Could someone tell me what the process for scholarships is? I got an atar of 99.90 so I was wondering if I have to be somewhere today or not
Thanks and CONGRATS EVERYONE!!!!!

You get a call
-
But do you go to the uni? Or not?
-
Will Melbourne Uni call about Chancellor's Scholars?
Should we accept all scholarship offers or something? I really have no idea.
-
stupid theatre studies, the subject that i cared most about! fuck! oh well on a positive note 46 in psych!!! wahooooooo, thanks to everyone that helped me in the psych board especially felicity wishes and tom deery!! this site rocks, and im glad to be part of such a amazing community!
-
But do you go to the uni? Or not?
Going uni can't hurt. You get an opportunity to talk to student advisors (eg. me) who can give you an idea of how the course is from a student's perspective.
-
Congrats all and especially Stick on such an impressive yr11 result. Also to Lozmatron with a literature score of 49
-
STILL WAITING ON THAT PERFECT SCORE
But congrats to everyone's score. Just remember that it isn't the end of the world if you don't get what you wanted :)
-

I know! I mean, a 50 in Further is quite attainable for a lot of people, but to get a 49 in Literature in Year 11... she must have stomped on the competition! xD
-
What ATAR is required to get an excellence scholarship offer at Melbourne Uni for Commerce?
-
LOL. Physics is the biggest joke of my life. B+ Exam 2? Did 1 night study.

I know that feel, did 0 study, 1 hour to make summary sheet, got B+ exam 2 LOL
-
Does anyone know when clearly in atar scores for unis are released ? :)
-

Shouldn't be happy about that, in fact you should be ashamed. If you actually studied for it you could have gotten an A+. Apply yourself.
-
Lol, doing a "pi" for physics landed me an A for the final exam...
I should of done that for the midyears as well X________X
Moderator action: removed real name, sorry for the inconvenience
-
Is there any way to get an exam re-checked? Got a C for Chem when I found it so easy and had same answers as the suggested solutions lol
-

Oi, step off dude. You have no right telling people that they should be ashamed. There a line between constructive criticism and outright bigotry . Be considerate farkk.

I think he's joking.
But your point stands, please don't make jokes that aren't obvious. Cheers.

Hey man, I'm helping him to apply himself in the future. I applied myself and got a 52.50. I just don't want people to not reach their potential.

I don't even care about my ATAR, however I am extremely disappointed with my Psych and Textiles result. I thought I did waaaaay better :(
And I was so happy when I finished the exams and just blah. I think I will only spend today sulking and tomorrow be excited about my trip overseas :D

I know the feeling about Psych. I put in a disproportionate amount of effort for the result I actually got, and I did way better in the mid-year. So much hate for that second exam. :P

I did so much Chem study its actually ridiculous. Really pissed with that score.Stupid Chem VCAA bitches. Argh.
I seriously need to re-consider what I want to do now. Thinking Chem was my best....and now I have to look at a career with English.

dont let one study score change your mind about a career - you'll do a lot better in uni if you're passionate about what you're doing

Bio in VCE was a huge let down for me, but i've been getting A's in uni so I must be doing something right!
-
I got a 36 for Methods, thought i did much better to be honest. I got, A+ B+ A. If my B+ was an A would my score have increased by much?

I got a 50 in Accounting but if I did this as a career I would literally kill myself.
Ironic cause I'm studying dent which has the highest suicide rate :P
-
For Psych, from C+ mid-year to B+. Woohooo! ;D
-
I can't believe I got the exact score for Physics that I wanted this year haha.

Nisha, I want to meet you.
I'm currently doing Chemistry at UoM.
I got a 48 SS in English. I got a 36 SS in Chem. I did at least 200hrs of Chem study throughout the year (that's a lot - around an hour a day for every day of the school term including exams and breaks, averaged out). I did 40 practice exams at 1.5hrs each (70hrs) for the midyears, and significantly less for end of years due to more subjects, but still a hell of a lot of practice exams.
I was distraught with my Chemistry score because it was the subject that I enjoyed most. And I was shocked at what I got for English - I didn't envision a single mark above a 40.
Don't rethink what you want to do.
At university, I scored a H1 (first class honours) in Chemistry 1 at Melbourne Uni, and I got a H2A (one mark off a first class honours) for second semester Chemistry. It's by far a strong subject. Trust me - stuff you are passionate about goes a long way; you'd be very surprised at how much better you do in university with a little motivation. PM me if you want to even discuss this further, I'm suddenly inexplicably very passionate about making sure you pursue chemistry if you enjoy it. I feel like I'm in the EXACT same boat.
Note: I'm planning on a Medicinal Chemistry + Regular Chemistry double specialization of the Chemistry major, whilst concurrently taking all of the Pharmacology pre-requisites major so I've effectively triple-majored by the end of my uni bachelors. And I can't wait for next year, I'm excited for it all to happen. Trust me, Chemistry is good and it gets better. I don't know what happened for me in VCE with Chem, and I think you feel the same way. But pursue it. It's so worth your while.

Lol. I did 52 prac exams for midyear. Around 40 ish for end of year. Did all the study guides I had. I got a 36 for Chem too. Really disappointed tbh. I could've done a bit better in English if I kept a level-head and didn't bomb out on my context, which is normally my strongest in writing.
This is pretty much me: I need some help. Course help.
I really adore chemistry. BUT I love English too. I know I want to do something with Chem and I will...I just don't exactly know , what.

You guys mind posting your corresponding grades with your study scores? I'm in year 11 and I just want to know what I should be aiming for. Thank you!

GA3: A+

I said I wouldn't check my scores but I did (but that was to be expected, right? haha). Correctly predicted chemistry score but did not expect the math and physics scores at all after the ass whooping at exams and on the last couple of SACs. Best case scenario for me would've been anything over 80 and most of my 'realistic' predictions were high 70s so super happy with 84.70

Arts/Science @ Monash? or Science @ UoM with English-related breadths?

I got A+ B A+ and a 38, so you probably would have gone up one or two. Does GA2 correspond to Exam 1 for Methods?
-
Business Management was weird:
GA 1 A+
GA 2 A
GA 3 A
But still scrapped a 40 ::)

Nisha, don't give up yet! Everyone has bad days or bad exams, seriously.
There are tons of careers that need science and english skills. Have you considered going into science communication or into science policy? Or science teaching?
If it makes you feel any better, I got a 40 in VCE methods, which is only a few points higher than your 36 in chemistry. I'm a physics major, and you'd think that physics needs a lot of maths... anyway, I'm still taking maths now, and even though I work really hard now, I still find it tough. I stay up really late most Wednesday nights doing my assignments. But things change, and I somehow managed to top our first differential equations midterm this semester (we have two midterms). Moral: work hard, and you can get to where you need to get. Don't take your VCE score as gospel, because things change over time.

49 in Further after ranking 1 and being pretty confident for a 50, but I'm still ecstatic! :D
Well, then I found out that my rival got 50... So I'm eating chocolate for breakfast.
-
Heard of someone getting a 44 with an A in mid-year (psych), this stuff happens! :D
-
Yeah I got a 43 in Chem with an A on the end of year! :)
-
the english scaling / sac marking is such a joke. Such a subjective subject.
-
Yeah I know people who were expecting 30 getting 40, those expecting 47+ getting 42 etc.
English is the only subject I'm a tad annoyed about but hey, it's finished! ;D
-
I got dux. oh. my. god. thank jesus I go to a public school!!!

I feel the same way. Though I'm happy with my score, I'm a tad disappointed because it didn't really correlate with my expectations. On the other hand, I did better in Literature than I would have thought. There are quite a few students I've talked to who received scores that didn't really reflect their writing ability IMO, it's quite subjective!
But oh well, at least it's over!

CONGRATS :) Great effort :)

What was the score required to get 99.95, out of curiosity?
I think the aggregates must've dropped this year - would've gotten lower with last year's cohort

Psych 44
A+ A+ A+

Does anyone know when will the list of high achievers be published on newspapers? The thread from Herald Sun website is not available anymore......
-
Soo I am finding it difficult to work out how I feel about my score for revs. It's as if I had hoped for more but had expected less and now I'm just caught in the middle :P
-
It's the Russian robot playing with your mind! :P
Nah, in all seriousness, this sort of stuff takes a little while to sink in. I can barely believe my own score and the outstanding scores in my class (considering we're not very academic as a school). 42 is a great result and I'm sure you'll come to realise that in the following days. :)
-

I've heard either Tuesday (tomorrow) or Wednesday.
-
Congratulations everyone!
I have a small question to ask--
I'm a year 11 student this year and received my scores from the resultsandatar website. I was wondering whether these scores are scaled or not because I don't want to get my hopes up or anything.
Anyways, posting my results so others can compare.
Media studies:
A+, A+, A+ -- 49
Visual communication and design:
A+, A+, A+ (undeserving to say the least. Exam was a killer) -- 41
-
A friend of mine got :
A+, A+, A+ in VCD and got a 50.
They weren't all high A+'s as well.
-
soliloquy, the scores you see are the raw scores.

Hope everyone got the ATAR they were hoping for! This is the first year the ATAR Calculator hasn't crashed during this time of the year :) Earlier this year I upgraded the server software so it could handle the load better.
The ATAR Calculator normally has anywhere between 500,000 and 1.5 million calculations performed per month. There have been around 450,000 calculations performed in just the last two days, which is amazing. Here's a graph that doesn't really show much other than the spike :P:

Hey sorry this is going to be a ridiculous question!
I've always been 100% sure that VTAC sends you your raw SS.
But now my friends say that it is my scaled score!
I'm right correct? They said you your raw score. Because if they didnt then
whats the point of their even being a "raw" score.

Business Management: A/A/B (34) Was predicted by my teacher a 45 :(

A/A/B+ 36, I only dropped 3 marks in my SACs, the exam was just difficult and I just copped it cause of it
-
I was honestly hoping that I would manage to scrape in a 91 this morning.. Getting my score has just blown me away. I always wanted to do Arts/Law at Monash but was convinced I'd never get the score....
I'm particularly shocked at my Lit score - I thought I completely bombed out on my second essay and spent the whole night crying afterwards! I'm definitely getting a statement of marks to see how I went.
-
Congrats cassettekid. We had a lot of success stories in Lit this year - you and lozmatron, good job!

Btw, does anyone know how Special At Specialist went?
As of my stalking, he got <40 for Specialist Maths - pretty embarrassing given his comments and the fact that he went around rubbing his confidence into other people's faces.

Maybe he decided not to have his scores published in the paper? And if he did get < 40, then so what?
Unwarranted comment Paul, the bullying is not on imo

Over-confidence is one thing, but you don't need to call him out on a public forum (whether that's true or not isn't even 100% certain).
-
Paul, be considerate of others. Zero tolerance policy. I know you're my mate, but rules are rules. Banned for 1 week.

Yeah, if it were any other time. But during results day...we need to be firm. If anyone else had done this I'd have banned them.

Not even harsh considering the OP.

May that be a warning to the anyone else who wants to take shots at others.

I was gonna make a joke about bigs things, but it was of little importance.
I am hoping I pass my gat LOL.

I got an ATAR of 49.50 was hoping to get atleast 55 to get nursing at latrobe. I go to a small school and filled out a seas application do you think I will still get into uni even though I was 5 points off what I needed?

You'll have to wait and see, it's still possible though and you will most likely be able to do a nursing course somewhere given your SEAS
-
Can someone please explain to me this....After looking at the methods exam 1 solutions I'm quite sure that I got 100% or at most 2 wrong on the exam 1 and I ended up getting an A :(. Another question is why did my sacs get scaled down to an A when my average sac marks on methods was 96-97%?
( my cohort is quite weak btw). If it does help I did get b+ on the second methods exam. I got a 35 for methods and I'm honestly very disappointed and am a little confused with how my marks ended. Thanks :)
-
Am i allowed to gloat about my GAT score when it comes in the mail tomorrow. I'm expecting BIG things. :P
Yeah of course, not one cares about the GAT haha
-
I'm very happy with my results, got 91.45! Was expecting around ~ 85ish so I'm extremely happy because now I'm above the clearly in for Aerospace at Monash (Plus i have SEAS as well) :)
I was in absolute shock when I saw I had received a 35 RAW score for specialist! I NEVER expect to get that high! I thought maybe 28~32 but 35 I'm so happy with! For our school too, that's one of the highest spec scores in a while (if at all) to my knowledge. Mr. Pech said he can retire now lol (joking of course :P ). I'm also sure that pi will find it funny (and relatable) that I received an A+ for the second physics exam, having done 3 practice exams the day before and staying up till 12am to write a cheat sheet :P
Well done to everyone else!
-
A/A/B+ 36, I only dropped 3 marks in my SACs, the exam was just difficult and I just copped it cause of it
Was expecting 42-45; found the exam easy but long; thought I dropped 8 marks at most - ended up with an A.
I'll base that on the fact that some of my writing was near illegible, however, which didn't help one bit.
Regardless, got a 40; somewhat disappointed but can't do much now!
Dropped 5 marks during the year, all during semester two due to careless errors.
-
^ Likewise, dropped 7 marks across the year, wanted 43, ended up with an A on the exam and 40. But ah well, live and learn :P
-
Congrats all and especially Stick on such an impressive yr11 result. Also to Lozmatron with a literature score of 49
OK I'M ONLY JUST CATCHING UP ON THIS THREAD but thankyou so much guys!! Believe me I didn't expect this at all - I'm ecstatic! Congratulations to everybody! <3
-
here goes my first post:
Is the study score sent in the mail scaled or?...
And I know someone who got A+s for everything in Accounting but only got a study score of 40 whilst another person who got 2 A+s and an A managed to get a 41, can someone please explain this?
-
Definition of A+: top 10%
Definition of 40: top 8%
Hence, A+ A+ A+ can net you as low as 38. It depends on how 'high' or 'low' your A+ is.
Hope that helps :)

Just double checking - when I got my result yesterday, it said I didn't qualify for the VCE. This is normal for a Year 11, right? :)

Yes. This is because you don't meet the English requirement.

Thanks. :)

Congrats to Bazza16 - Dux of AN 2012 :)

What is an A,A,B+ ?
-
Thanks guys for all the helpful tips i've received on here, appreciate it a lot. As a year 11 student, so relieved to get a 3/4 out of the way (Legal). Did NOT expect to do well considering my SACs ranged somewhere between 79% and 88%, checked my results expecting a 35 and when I saw the 44 I thought VCAA had made a mistake. Once again, cheers guys, and congrats class of 2012 on some amazing results :)
-

Depends on plenty of things, but it's a safe bet to guess that it'd be around mid 30s.
-
Business Management: A/A/B (34) Was predicted by my teacher a 45 :(
Anybody else done Business care to share their results?
A+ A B+ for 36
quite devastated to be honest, considering i loved the subject so much and poured all my effort into it. i just cracked under pressure during the exam, as it was my first one and it wasnt the easiest exam..
ill tell you what it has motivated me heaps to kick ass next year to make up for it haha
-
How did I still get a 42 after that A on the mid-year's in Physics? :)
So happy.
Should've cared about english earlier, so that my SAC marks wouldn't have dragged me down, but 43 is still really good :) :)

I know a girl who got an A on one of her exams for Psychology who got 45, as did another who did Environmental Science and got a 45 as well with an A on the mid year. I'm really surprised seeing as so many people on this forum have stressed that you can't get over about 42-43 with an A on one of the two exams.

Yeah, but I wasn't really expecting an A+ on that exam either haha

I was sort of disappointed with my methods mark I expected low 40's but I received a SS of 38 and received all A's. However through checking the solutions on atar notes I know I lost 3 marks on first exam and about 12 marks on second exam. Does this reflect my mark? I was think about getting a statement of marks..

I can't see how this will change anything, no I don't think it reflects your mark, exam 2 surely would of been A+, but once again I can't see the SOM changing you mark
-
does anybody know the exact aggregate score for a SS of 43 in further maths?
If not, how are Yr 11s meant to find out? Are we supposed to wait for next year when we are given our ATARs?
-
43->41.60

43->41.60
Thanks! :)

Oh! I can completely relate to you. I recieved a letter grade of A on all GAs, resulting with a raw study score of 37. I too honestly believed that I would have recieved a low 40 raw...42 to be precise. Based on my opinion though, yes it does reflect your mark to some extent, with the exception of GA2 ( because it's scaled based on how you rank). However, I do question whether or not you may have lost 12 marks on the latter exam. Now, I am not saying that's you have fabricated that number, but if I had to guess you probably selected that number at random, am I right? However, as previously mentioned, the statement of marks will not change your marks but nevertheless if you feel that it will provide you with some piece of mind, then by all means go ahead and purchase it. Good Job on attainting your score :)
-
Ahh thanks guys. I'm going to get my SOM just to see... even though it changes nothing... :)
And the number was not random from the solutions posted up on atar notes for exam 2 I counted 12 marks that I would have gotten wrong. And I did this the day after the exam, so my solutions that I had written were pretty fresh. Anyway, thanks for the help!

Oh okay, my mistake. Good luck :)
-
Really happy with mine. Got a 50 in Methods despite initially having a 46 due to a school error that put my SAC mark ten marks lower than normal, giving me an A, and a 45 in Chinese. WOOT!

yea these marks don't really make much sense?! cos my friend got A, A+, A+ and she only got 42?!
-
Depends on plenty of things, but it's a safe bet to guess that it'd be around mid 30s.
i got
B+,A, A for Business and = 36
B+,A,A for Accounting and = 36
but this is high as my A's were for exams, if the B+ was for the exams it would probably be 34-35
-

Hmm, in regards to your friend's score, I am more than certain that it makes sense. I'm not too sure if you are aware of this, but in some scenarios, recieving low A+'s for all GA's would yeild you a raw score of 39. Moreover, I was speaking to a girl before who recieved A+ A+ A for legal studies and ended with a raw of 42. Honestly, it really depends on whether she recieved a high, mid or low A+.
-
What is an A,A,B+ ?
It's quite hard to determine what raw score you would recieve because I'd need to know exactly how 'high' or 'low' these grades are and the strength of your cohort. However, if I had to make a guess, that would probably yeild you a raw of 34-37
-
Hmm so having got my statement of marks for Psych (77.5/90), it seems it was mainly the three mark question that I forgot to answer + the extended response (5/10) that messed me up.
Interestingly, I received a better score for my second essay (Harwood) in Literature, despite putting much more time and effort into the first.
-
Omg bloody VCAA.
I order a statement of study score but no.. they give me a statement of marks.
IM SO ANGRY. I emailed them and they better be posting me what I ordered!!! :@
-
@vashappenin what exam marks did you get to obtain a 47
-
Btw, does anyone know how Special At Specialist went?
As of my stalking, he got <40 for Specialist Maths - pretty embarrassing given his comments and the fact that he went around rubbing his confidence into other people's faces.
Yeah, my scores were far less than I thought I would get :'(
ATAR - 86.75
Literature - 23
Methods - 42
Spec - 37
Philosophy - 32
German - 20
Guess I'll be going to Deakin next year...
-
Well done, Special At Specialist, you may have not gotten what you had expected but I can see some pretty great scores there. And for those making negative comments or criticisms about others and their scores, please keep it to your self as I see it as very rude, disrespectful and most of all hurtful. ???
-
S@S - dude, you can get into monash science :)

Unfortunate about that Literature score, closes quite a number of doors :-\
S@S - dude, you can get into monash science :)
This being one of them.
Not to worry, work hard in first year and a transfer is definitely on the cards ;)
-
Just a quick question, I want to do civil engineering at Melbourne Uni. When I called the uni they told me that I have to do bachelor of science or environments and then do masters of civil. Now, is there any major difference between environments or science?? Secondly, when I do graduate will my chance of getting a job be different to males??
-
S@S - dude, you can get into monash science :)
I don't think I'll be accepted into any Monash/Melbourne course without a 25 in my English subject.

Yeah, when I saw that score I actually wanted to cry... I honestly don't know how I got that low. I was expecting at least a 30. It kind of makes my ATAR score redundant, since I could have gotten in the 60's and still been given just as many opportunities as I am now.
Not to worry, work hard in first year and a transfer is definitely on the cards ;)
Thanks for the optimistic note :) I heard that if I get a 75% average in my first year at Deakin, they will let me transfer to Melbourne. I'm still not sure whether I want to risk that or just do year 12 English at a TAFE for 4 hours per week and treat it like a gap year. Either way, I won't be doing literature again.
-

Definitely not. VCE is history.
Your ATAR, 5 subjects, non-metro school is equivalent to a mid-90's.
You are a Uni level student, your Lit result was an accident.
Therefore, you go to Deakin, if need be, smash it in the first year, which is well within your capabilities, and then transfer to Science at UoM or Monash which I believe is your rightful home.
Report back to me in 12 months.
EDIT: I also sense that academically you are on a upward curve, so there is no point wasting a year, use it to learn 'good stuff'

Thank you! I hope I can undo the mess I caused by scoring really well in first year uni. I'll try to stay active on AN and help out other year 12 students, so I'll tell you exactly what's happening by the end of January.

I can thank AtarNotes for that ;) I think that visiting this site fairly regularly throughout year 12 really helped me. Everyone is so kind, knowledgeable and supportive :) I know I don't study that much, but I did next to nothing in year 11, so I'd like to think that my study habits have improved, and will hopefully continue doing so (procrastination is still my worst enemy).
-
Still a
pretty really good effort to get a 42 in Methods and a 37 in Spesh though!
-
what were your GA's to end up getting a 23
this was my absolute nightmare, i feel for you but i'm sure there is plenty of other ways to get where u want to be.
-
@Special At Specialist: If this is any help, I might see you at Deakin next year :)
-
Hi,
I sent in my application for statement of study score and statement of marks form in 2 days ago. How long will it take to arrive? Also does anyone know when the ATAR calc will include 2012 scores?
Thanks
-
By the end of the week mine came pretty quickly
-
I sent a form in as well for a statement of marks; I imagine it might take a bit more time right now due to Christmas
Just don't worry, go enjoy the festivities
-
Although I only got 32 for both HHD and Psych, I'm still pretty happy because I come from a non-English speaking background. It might not be amazing scores for some people though, but I'm still proud of myself ;D
On another note, I'm still mourning over the 27 for ESL :( my most favourite subject of all 4.
What can I say besides this equation:
passionate subject + amazing tutor - (neglected teacher + laziness) = unmotivated student ???
-

LOL +1 for your equation :D
I feel so ashamed when telling people my vnese and esl scores because vnese is my 1st language but I got lower SS than esl :(
My relatives and teachers in my country even make fun at me and ask: You go to other country and neglect your mother tongue? How embarrassing its ==

I was really suprised with my business result as I only got a 37 and that's the only subject I enjoyed and tried for, I got. An A and a A+ and a b+ on the exam and I thought the exam was easy. I did not study at all and got an A+ for everything in information technology and an A on the exam which I did not do a single second of study for except for doing the class work and got a 40. Further for me was a suprise as well not because I did no study but because I sucked at it and missed out a whole section on the exam and got a 30. Accounting I tried and studied hard for but I always didn't get the greatest marks and when I was talking to other people who did the subject the previous year I assumed lied to me cause they said they got A's and b+'s and they said they only got 30 but I got two b+'s and one A and got a 34 which I was happy with considering I was expecting in the late 20's with what other people were telling me.

hi, i did psych last year ( D+, C, C+= 25) i know these are not very high but could someone please explain which grades account for what (exam 1, exam 2 etc.)
