For me i did A Man for all seasons as my text response and had identity and belonging as the context
found man for all seasons do-able but didnt quite like the id and belonging prompt
language analysis was fair easy and straightforward
think i did okay
how about u guys?
-
I did AMFAS aswell :D, I thought promt i was pretty good.
as for section B the imaginative landscape >:(
-
GDIB
Didn't really like any of the prompts but they were do-able. There was something like "Desensistive" in one of the prompts and I couldn't find it in the dictionary :| (yes i realise it's like the opposite of sensitive)
Conflict
liked this prompt
LANG analysis
not too bad ;)
woot, specialist in like 1 hour 45 mins.
-
ahaha yeah specialist in 1.5 hours definitely looking forward to that one... ::)
-
Not too bad, not too bad...could have been better, I guess. Did Romulus, My Father and had Identity and Belonging for context. I agree, the prompt was not great! I bombed out on context, but hopefully my other two pieces were good enough to leave me with an A at least.
Goodluck Specialist kids :)
-
I thought the language analysis was 2 articles!!!!!!!!!!
FUCKKKKKKKKKKK
-
Conflict
liked this prompt
True that, what a relief...
Now onto specialist lol
-
OMG !!!!!!!!!!!
ENGLISH WAS THE BEST EXAM EVER!!!!!!!
I did kite runner, and the question as almost IDENTICAL to one I did at home!!!! I used many of the same points
Language anaylsis was soooo long to read, THANK GOD ONE ARTICLE, but i did decent in that
context= was good too!!!!!
btw, we had a guys phone go off, and the examiner took it off him, dunno if he is in trouble, they didnt look angry though

its ten times easier to learn how to do TWO, then rite on ONE
then it is leanring how to anaylse ONE and move onto TWO
i only learnt how to anylse one :P
So i guess the exam VCAA cover was correct that being tehres one piece!!!

-

btw, Voxi was the writer/blogger right?
yeah!!! I was thinking he was like an alias/ blogger dude, wish he had a last name, hated that I kept using "voxi, voxi, voxi, the writer" etc
and btw I forgot to rite backgorund info on the issue =(, is that bad =(
-
I did In the Lake of the Woods.. prompts were much better than 2008
Context -> Conflict. also not too bad.
Lang An, article and image sucked! but was aight :P
SO RELIEVED TO FINISH

Language Analysis was retarded. What did people say for the visual?? Seriously why was it so long???

I think they did it LONG to compensate for not havign TWO articles. Thats what I immediately thoguht when i saw it
hahah, as soon as reading time started i flicked to see if there was a VISUAL with the CONTEXT
and if tehre ere 2 articles for analysis, xD
LOVE YOU VCAA!!!!!!!
hope my marks are good though!
-
On the exam covers which were released a while ago, on section C it said something about analysing the "article"
so it was right about only one article!

lol i said that before....oh sorry, mgiht have been in the OTEHR english exam trhead of 2009, my bad
-
I did the desensitisation question.
Yes to all those wondering what it meant, it was a lack of showing sensitivity.
Went okay in A & B, wasn't too sure about C though, especially the fact that it was one article. >_>
-

You should be fine. Giving background information only aims to fulfill the mark descriptor:
"understanding of the ideas and points of view presented"
If you've made it clear that you understand the role of technology in society and how people can view it then you'll be fine.
-
I did desensitisation for Generals as well. I talked about their being a much broader meaning to the novel than them simply being 'desensitised' in order to deal with war, and pointed out that though they were 'desentitised' (I changed it to 'neglect' or 'ingore their conditions') in some respects, they were still affected emotionally (narrator reaction to killing Karl), and physically (unrelentling lice, etc.)
I think I went a bit off track...
-
Just out of interest, what was the Encountering Conflict prompt?
-
did anyone do hard times?
the first one was very nice i thought..
just talked about coketown, the education system and slipped the legal system in.
then talked about louisa, jane and sissy, as well as rachael and stephen
i liked it.
whose reality prompt was good too.. unprecedently broad:)
-

What topic did you do for INTLOW?. I did the first one, the only idea I could come up with is that the suspense is caused by the manipulation/uncertainty of truth
-
Just out of interest, what was the Encountering Conflict prompt?
"It is the victims of conflict who show us what is really important."
-
Best word for tone in the language analysis was "optimistic"
-
i have a bad feeling about my context piece. the whose reality? prompt was almost identical to our sac prompt, yet i didn't think to use the ideas from that sac which i did well on. my opinion piece was just like a slab of vomit!
-
i said it was enthusiastic as the guy was a enthusiast of digital technology.
btw, Voxi was the writer/blogger right?
lol yeh
ctrl alt srsly haha
-
I missed the background information altogether, as in I didn't even see it. I didn't write much about the issue itself and thought it was called Voxi Magazine...
I still felt like my piece was really high calibre. I'd hate to lose two marks for missing the tiny little background information box that wasn't even on the same page as the article... It doesn't seem right to punish for that, not really an assessment of the ability to analyse an article.
From what I've heard though, VCAA is pretty flexible when it comes to these things.
-
Surely it is difficult to learn about GDIB and not know what desensitisation is seeing as it is a major theme in the book? Anyway, I answered thematically, first discussing the exposure to the horrors of war, followed by the soldiers reverting to primal animal instinct, followed by class difference and discipline and finally civilians and their lack of desensitisation to some elements of war, profiteering, etc...Nothing completely stops the emotional and physical suffering, but this desensitisation to the horrors of war does stem the flow so to speak for the soldiers. Whereas some civilians do not suffer and benefit from the soldier's suffering.

Just wondering, you are clearly NOT THE ONLY ONE, but why would pplz think magazine=voxi, when the dude SIGNS OFF as voxi, that is, his name appears at the end of the article? lol

I thought it was an editorial in the magazine, and then they signed off with the magazine name as you often see in stuff like that. What'd they expect with a name like Voxi!? If it had been something like Jim then it would be much clearer.
-
I wonder how they thought of voxi?
-
LMFAO "jim" hahahahahahah, yeah i get ya
-
Best word for tone in the language analysis was "optimistic"
I said that I am pretty sure :)

who ever did romulus my father which topic did they choose? i chose the first one, about my son is everything to me. what did everyone write?
-
I came out of the exam really happy and now I've forgotten half of what I wrote and I'm worried I messed up.
*sigh*
-
Haha be confident just hope that your essay stands out compared to everyone elses in the state lol
-
who ever did romulus my father which topic did they choose? i chose the first one, about my son is everything to me. what did everyone write?
Same topic...I started rambling a bit, but I'm hoping it wont hurt too much.
B1 - Rambled about Romulus a little (in order to reach my point), Gave examples of events in the memoir that would ordinarily be damaging to a child's well being
B2 - Explained why Raimond was not damaged by said events (his recognition of his father's love) and detailed the many positive lessons that he learned from his father (blah blah morality)
C - Used some quotes to illustrate that Raimond grew into a man of great spiritual well being
-
yooo, for the lang. analysis did people analyse the picture?
-
thank god thats the last time i have write "melancholic diatribe" for hard times
-
yooo, for the lang. analysis did people analyse the picture?
Yeah I did but I related it to other stuff so it sort of made sense... :-\
and The Imaginative Landscape.
ARGH!!!!! >:(
I really dislike my school for picking that context. Worst Imaginative Landscape prompt ever!!!!
(For an exam anyway)
-
hrm i wrote bout how with seach engines like google we dnt necessarily need brains anymore because internet & tech. does it for you,

yooo, for the lang. analysis did people analyse the picture?
Yeah I did but I related it to other stuff so it sort of made sense... :-\
-
Concerning the visual.
I wrote about how the future we will be better connected to the vast knowledge on the internet, thus reiterating voxi's point of us becoming supersayians (sic)
-
ross huggard and moshi i did the first topic for hard times also..was a fairly standard question
i did my 1st para on sissy helping louisa, banishing harthouse etc. and last one on sleary helping tom escape to liverpool and quotes like "you mutht have uth" (individuals) and 2 middle paragraphs on the institutions of school (gradgrind and his effects on his own kids and pupils) and unions/places of employment via the unfortunate life of blackpool, so how he asks bounderby about divorce and helps the people who ostrascised him from the union without counting the cost
-
Who wrote on 'Look Both Ways'? and which question did you do?
-
Who wrote on 'Look Both Ways'? and which question did you do?
I did the iner lives of people and crapped on about their living spaces and the animations and the weather
you?
-

you?
I did the other one actually, I am better at character discussion rather than structure etc even though it was our SAC question.
Did you think both questions were relatively easy?
-
the LBW questions were piss easy..
people at my school chose to do it instead of hard times during the exam without any study
-
Haha, that doesn't surprise me. It really surprised me how basic they were.
-
plus one of them was almost exactly the same to our SAC prompt i think
-
oh thats good as haha lol at ur name ross huggard
-
Language analysis was pretty bad :(
