Just wondering, If I didn't make the 96.75 ENTER for Physio at La Trobe in Bundoora, what would be my best alternative pathway of getting in? (start a course for one year and then transfer across). I was thinking Health Sciences at La Trobe, since the first year is the same for both courses. But the ENTER/ATAR differences are a lot, so I'm not sure whether they may accept the transfer (Health Sciences = 60.00, whilst Health Sciences/Master of Physiotherapy = 96.75)

Okay, so the best way to get into La Trobe Physio in Bundoora is to get the ENTER score required. Granted, that is easier said than done - however, considering the year is not over, you should not be looking for alternatives just yet. Instead, you should endeavour to get the said score.

In saying that, and you dont get the required score, you should, in my humble opinion, do Health Science at La Trobe. La Trobe has set up the Common First Year (CFY) as a buffering system in which, students who have not yet decided what course they wish to pursue, are able to explore most health science degrees - then decided - without having to forfiet that year of study. Thus, if you do health science at Latrobe, you are very well permitted to transfer - provided you have the marks to do so. And I've emphasised that because the marks needed arent easy to get. Off memory, to transfer last year, you needed to maintain a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 81.X. Which basically means, in the CFY, you do 8 subjects, and the average mark you get for each subject is 81. Not easy, but doable. Its also pertinent to note that La Trobe has specifically set aside 13 spots in the second year physiotherapy course for people from the CFY to transfer into it. So yes, you can even go as far to say that it is the prefered pathway.

Lastly, you should think for a sec: if you dont get a WAM of 81 (or whatever is needed for that year to transfer), and dont transfer over, what would you do with a Health Science degree?

The prereqs for physio at latrobe are: VCE Units 3 & 4: study score of at least 25 in English (any) or 30 in English (ESL) and at least 25 in two of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics (any), Physical Education or Physics

I have those covered so surprisingly im eligible on that front. I wont have done the UMAT though. Can I still get in?

But id do so shit seeing as I only answer the prereqs by doing PE and Further. I went onto medentry and it says only monash and uom need it. I dont satisfy the prereqs for those courses. I was under the impression from reading the latrobe website that you only need to sit the umat for graduate entry into the course.

Once you get into Uni, your ATAR scores don't matter at all for internal transfers.

Not necessarily, depending on the university, if you're looking to apply for a mid-year transfer without a full year of tertiary study then your ENTER/ATAR will be used to determine your "academic capability" of coping in the desired course.

La Trobe Physio doesn't require the UMAT from what I've heard. Thats why I'm not doing it.

I saw that, it seemed quite easy to get into, but then i realise they only accept 70 CSP places for 2011 (may rise in a few years though), so probably more competitive then thought even under guaranteed.

I just got a 92.5 ATAR score, and want to go to LaTrobe Bundoora which needs 96.4 ATAR. I fit into 2 categories of SEAS and was wondering, will this be enough to get me in?
