How much below the clearly in gives you a reasonable chance, for both 1st and 2nd round offers? Have to figure out whether it's worth applying for a course that I'm 5 points below!

It can't hurt applying as if you don't get it, you just get the next pref right?

5 points is a little far off on the top end of ATARs to be honest though you should always list courses in the order you want not the order to get an offer first.
