WAM, Study Plan and Exchange

First year Commerce student and I recently got a WAM of 78.00 for this first semester. I'd like to go on exchange in second year second semester to North America or Europe preferably. Schools I'm looking at, however, have previous WAM intakes of 80+ and some even in the 90s so it's obvious that I need to improve my WAM. Currently, after seeing Stop 1, my study plan looks a little like this. I did not elect to do a breadth subject over this Winter break.

So a few questions:
1. Which semesters/years results will contribute towards my WAM used for exchange applications?
2. What is the jump like from QM1 to QM2, especially for a first year student? (I think I am going to do QM2 instead of Intro Econometrics given that I have heard QM2 is easier and I did relatively poorly on QM1 72%)
3. And so, would it be wiser to do some 'easier' subjects like breadths now (before my exchange applications to boost my WAM) instead of trying to complete some harder ones like QM2 in first year and Investments in second year (to alleviate some pressure on my third year)?
4. How many summer subjects are you allowed to do over the course of one summer?

Thank you!

Hi, regarding your first question, as you planned to go on exchange in second semester next year (2018 semester 2), you'll need to finish your exchange application at the end of next semester, and the global mobility will consider all your previous results which in your case are results from this semester and next semester. The maximum workload for summer semester are 25 credit i.e. two subjects. Regarding the subject choices, I'll leave that to other fellas since I'm not a commerce student myself. But if you decide to do any core subject or major subject (not quite sure what they are called in bachelor of commerce) when you are going on exchange, make sure you could get said subject at destination university to be approved as equivalence for the corresponding subject at Uni Melbourne. This process could be a pain in the ass (speaking from personal experience) and should be taken into consideration when you're planning for the subjects you'll be doing before and during exchange.
