There was, look at the table for exact numbers, but not enough to get their own column. Only 90 females sat the exam last year.

Classical music is always good, I was referring to more modern stuff.

haha i havent heard that one before!! and why is that? because we are seen to be more creative than men? all the well known artists are mainly men (well the ones i know of) so that backfires :P
when it comes to the way women and men think, i dont think any generalisation that can be made as everyone is individual
during this year my lit teacher told me i think in squares/boxes.. like a guy... so yeah maybe i was meant to be born as a male hahah nah
im just saying that even my teacher made these generalisations!
i dont know if this is what you were referring to but yeah :P
I was just generalising - men are more math/science and women are more artsy - not serious at all. Everyone is unique.
fair enough - must say that i kind of agree but of course there are exceptions :)
This can be 'proved' with the VCE graded distributions. Take a look at say English and Maths.

just had a look at methods CAS and english and yes it does prove it but there isnt an even number of female vs male students
for english theres more female and for the methods theres way more males....
but still the %'s are similar when you look at the table

The bar chart shows percentages, therefore heights are comparable.

but there wasnt an even number of girls vs guys so can it really be compared?
edit: maybe if the numbers were equal the %'s would be different

The bar chart show the percentage which achieved each letter grade. The proportions can be compared.

Really? I'm the opposite, if I'm working on a hard maths problem, then I need to concentrate completely, and I always get distracted by how awesome my music is.

Well, maybe not a 'hard' maths problem. But when I'm just doing the same type of question repetitively - that's the only time I can listen to music.

I use music when I am doing dull, repetitive, easy work. I turn it off when I need to concentrate.

I dont think it would really make a huge difference to be honest, like the saying goes - do what ever works (best for you).

I like to listen to music when I study.

I CANNOT read a text book with music going as I'll forget what I have read, but I can listen to music whilst doing questions to build up a skill in some area of maths. If I'm on a hard question that is driving me insane, I won't listen to music then either.

I can't stand it when you iPod is on shuffle and none of those songs are good or you'll say WTF? I can't remember putting that on, and you spend ages searching for the right song.

I also can't stand lectures when people are listening to music in them. If these people want to listen to music go outside!

What is worse than music? Internet sites such as facebook, msn (well not exactly a site, but you know - although a fair amount of collaborate learning for me has been on msn) and VN is another place I procrastinate. When studying it's sort of like 'this topic is on --', OMG I have to see this.

I like to listen to music when studying cause it breaks it up a bit. Its more of a liesure activity when I get to listen to music aswell. Nomsayin?

Also I havea song which I listen to whenever I think about careers or studying, VCE, etc.
Mastermind by Nas. The lyrics make me believe im a mastermind. Like im capable of learning anything.

[Chorus]
A Mastermind - Sees it coming before it comes
A Mastermind - Before he go to war he counts his one
A Mastermind - Everything planned out perfect, in case y'all niggaz got to get murdered
A Mastermind - Sleeps at night, real easy
A Mastermind - Cause everything he does is by the book
A Mastermind - Never do a thing irrational, lives forever, these tales are classical

Look at IT:SD.
Link
WTF, as if no girl did I.T?

There would have been ONE, in fact this year my friend did I.T:SD and shes a girl, so last year there would have been a girl

My class was a total sausage fest. I think there is like 1000 male and 100 females doing it. I don't remember the exact numbers but it was a 10:1 ratio - roughly.
