Alright thanks. Mr Koh is a pretty old teacher from M'sia/Sg'pore. (Heard he was from the former, then moved to the latter)
School usually ends at 3pm. :)
Is Mr Koh good? :D I don't mind taking in my school though, but he doesn't have much recommendations from UMEP students :P (keeping in mind that it takes quite a while to travel from MW to city...)
You're so lucky! We end at 3:20pm. The school I went to before ended at 3:15pm and primary school was 3:30pm.

Problem is Scotch starts at 3:30 - which means I need to get there in 10 minutes... or less if I'm packing up my bag at the end of school... Oh well, if I have a spare then I'll go there, if not, I'll stay at my school or just run for the tram! It's only like 5kms away! Dr David Coulson is teaching it there this year - I think Mr Honnens taught it last year - they have REALLY good teachers and used to have Dr Evans as their head of maths. He's the one that wrote most of the Essential Maths books and wrote a few of the enrichment series books for the AMT too.
But the teacher at my school is very very good too... hard to say. Again, I'll just have to check my timetable and ask students there if the teacher that's teaching is really good.

You could try emailing Dr Coulson to see if the time could be changed, last year the UMEP Physics time was pretty flexible.

Ok, awesome :) Probably not this year though, I'm doing UMEP Maths in 2012 which is quite a while away and I might end up staying at my school cos it's good too :)

LOL this is funny concidering my situation. I was planning to do umap at scotch. I have a wind band on tuesday afternoon which is when uni maths runs and they wouldn't/couldn't change it, and i GO to scotch so i have to go to MGGS for upem maths.

Granted, Ms Michell is pretty damn awesome and i'm not reli complaining seing as my school pays the fees and for me to get there and back home every week, but basically, the scotch guys get priority with when uni math runs. The only reason i'm not doing it at scotch is bcs there are 8 other guys from scotch doing it this year and Tuesday was the only day the rest of the guy could make.

azure, don't bother doing at at scotch. Ms Michell is awesome i think i'm actually much happier doing it at MGGS. I've heard a lot about Dr Coulson (never had him personally but i have asked him  with help with quite a few uni maths q's) and i like the way Ms Michell teacher much more. Yes we do have some awesome teachers, but ur not losing out by doing it at your school, plus you wouldn't need to go anywhere

Bottom line, don't bother doing it at scotch, it's not worth the hassle

I would put money on Dr Coulson still teaching there. No one else would reli be able to propely teach it. Like, not thu lack of skill or anything, jut lack of familiarty with the course.

atm, 11 ppl do umep at mggs. Two mggs girls, some random from carlton, some random from lilydale(takes him 2 housr to get there, like 4 hours round trip!), three melb grammars, three macrobbians and a scotchie(hmmmm who could that be????)

Ms Michelle is AWSOME, seriously awesome i have had only one other teacher i've eve liked as much. Well.... not including Dr He

and evans was before my time so quite a long time ago

Yeah, I reckon Ms Michell > Dr He.
Just my opinion :D That's great, relatively small class :) I'll most likely stay at my school if Ms Michell is teaching.
Wasn't Mr Honnens teaching it at your school last year though?

Yea, honnens was, but then he stopped teaching at scotch at the end of last year. That's why Coulson is taking it now. And sifffff, Dr He is awesome!

Okay, so the UMEP teachers don't necessarily change every year. So is Dr Coulsen the best maths teacher in your school now?

hmmmmm debateable. Going off like.....skill alone, he would defs be up there. However teaching is not all about pure math skills. The teacher i had last year would not be the absolute most knowlegable, he knew his stuff, just not like.....Dr He say.......but he ws such an awesome teacher. He got reli into the classses and we all liked methods a lot. Another good teacher is Mr Balck. He is very knowlgable and i reli great guy. So, personally, i don't think that coulson is the greatest teacher. My friends that have had him didn't reli like him either.

Again the main reason that he is taking the course is becasu of his familiarity with the course having lectured at melbourne uni not two years ago.
