my idea of what to this year ( i'm in year 12 this year) is go to school, catch the bus straight to the gym after school, come home and have dinner, study my ass off and sleep like a baby then wake up early and study. studies show that studying straight after waking up increases memory storage or some shit like that. feedback?
On the contrary studying right before you sleep will aid in memory as REM sleep has a role in the consolidation of long-term memories.
The problem is, right after I get home, Im already in my sleep syndrome. So either, a) Drink Coffee to sustain myself b) Get a nice long nap, then start studying.
So which would be more beneficial...Hmmmm?
I had that problem a lot during my VCE actually. The best remedy is going to bed earlier the night before but as ATAR said above^ there's no actual course of action that you can take when you feel tired. Have a nap and when you wake up, eat something and start studying. You can't study effectively when you're sleepy.
My sleep pattern wasn't great - I went to bed late most nights and napped during the day when I came home. Then later that night I couldn't fall asleep because of the nap so I stayed up late, and the cycle continues. Some mornings when I had library periods I slept in so that was a bit of an exception.
