The other key here is to find those oppurtunities to be active.
Those times you are bored and sitting around doing nothing or either procrastinating see it as a chance to go for a small run/walk, walk the dog if you have one or take the bike out and go somewhere to get focused.
It is also sometimes good to have a friend to go along with you so you can both get out for a while and have some social time whilst excercisng at the same time.

I found that rather than trying to put in a specific time, I'd exercise when I was feeling stressed, worked up, or like I wasn't getting any work done. That would usually calm me down enough to study very efficiently. Remember, it's better to do one hour of efficient study when you're in the mood for it than 2 hours of study where you're not getting anything done and just trying to study because your timetable says to.

Listen to audiobooks of your English texts and Douchy's Biology Podcast while you go for a run/jog/walk/bikeride.

@liuetenant - Is this about maintaining good general health or improving fitness?

It is also sometimes good to have a friend to go along with you so you can both get out for a while and have some social time whilst excercisng at the same time.

I went to the school gym with 3 other year 12's, we'd listen to music, laugh and have a great time without really thinking about the sac the next morning or the exam in 2 weeks. When your alone you lose a lot of motivation to exercise and it really is crucial to your well being.

Listen to audiobooks of your English texts and Douchy's Biology Podcast while you go for a run/jog/walk/bikeride.

I wouldn't, treat yourself to some breaks from school. You've got to stay human! (Can't stress this enough...)

I'd exercise when I was feeling stressed, worked up, or like I wasn't getting any work done. That would usually calm me down enough to study very efficiently.

I did the same thing! When sac marks weren't going my way or when I was simply having a bad day I'd treat myself to a nice mountain bike ride. For me, this was my escape, I wouldn't think about school or friends or anything other than the trail in front of me.

Ah okay it's awesome that you're worried about this kind of stuff. As some people have said, you can sort of use it as a break, and a constructive one. There are heaps of studies supporting exercise in improving morale, sleep etc. You'll find that you should be able to fit it in and after you're back and have had a rest, you'll probably be alert and ready to study.

Although I struggled to keep up my normal frequency, I was still able to go to the gym 2-3 times a week, as well as playing sport at lunchtime and having a hit of tennis every few weeks. It's just about enjoying the exercise while you're at it then having meaningful studying sessions and not wasting time.

You can also find some novel ways to fit it all in - e.g. riding your bike to school. Good luck and fitness > study (sorry VNers) :)

finding time to exercise is pretty hard especially if you think the time is better spent on studying. I quit australian nationals in vce to focus on studying but did often find the times on weekends to train and often would go jog every day just to keep fit.

But to be productive, you can't study all the time, sure, if you're a focused person, and you like it you can do maths for like 10 hours straight :P :D but you still need to take breaks sometimes in order to rejuvenate yourself. Running is good, and running a few kms only takes like 20mins and it makes you feel good too, as well as being beneficial for study, in my opinion. :)

Too true. I read somewhere that students who exercised regularly throughout the year felt less stressed than the students who don't.

And here's some other articles relating to it's benefits: http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/story?id=99556&page=1
