I wrote 14 pages.

Jesus christ
14 isn't that much - I wrote 7+6+4, so 17
Quality > Quantity
That said, I managed 19 pages, but my handwriting is large and spread out.

Well, if you have the raw talent.
I've heard of a girl who obtained 48 by only writing essays for her school assessments throughout the year.
Such cases are extremely rare though.

Sigh... life is unfair for mere mortals :P

Examiners will mark your essays on their merits, if the essay is well written and ticks all the boxes, then they will give it a high score. Some people are 'naturally smart' and can sort of get away with not doing as much study/revision as others. But if an essay is deserving of a high score, it will get one - they won't know if the person worked hard or not.

Look, it's possible and not unheard of. But I wouldn't put money on it.

Hope you get lucky :)

I'm pretty sure there are alot of people capable of 40+ in their best subjects without even trying - however what if you do try? Well then you'll simply get close to 50

Same position as you.

Did not do any practice essays, not even for SACs, but managed 3-4 A+'s and the rest were A's.

I guess English because it is mostly about your ability to come up with sophisticated bullshit is more easier to fluke.

But even if you get high 30s and low 40s you should be disappointed because you could have gotten a 50 if you put in the effort. :)

I can relate strongly to this. I probably only wrote a grand total of 10 essays for English throughout the year - one or two as practice before each SAC. I didn't particularly work hard in English (well at least compared to Chemistry, and Physics, I did very little) - would estimate that I spent 2 hours a fortnight on it outside of school time. English, by and large, is a subject which just gauges your ability to express yourself. If you can do that... well, it's pretty easy to do well in.

I did, however, use class time very, very productively. I just don't study at home, even now at uni :P I need to force myself to go to a library before I'll even open a book.
