Would scoring 41+ with barely any study be unheard of?
« on: November 01, 2012, 04:32:39 pm »
Hi brahs,

Finished my exam today obviously. I've been averaging about an A all year for english. I got an A+ on all 3 topics which i wrote on in the exam today, in my sacs throughout the year. But i rarely study for english at all, i did one practice exam and my teacher marked me a 9/10 on my TR and a 9.5/10 on my Expos.

And i havent really studied all year, i totally winged the LA.

By what Ive said, do you think hoping for something like a 41-42 is realistic? I wrote 14 pages, all relevant information.

Hey...you're a Luther kid. :P Hi there!

Who taught you this year? :)

It's hard to say. If I were a year 12 I would forget about scores until exams were over. Still judging by that information that score sounds plausible. ( Although the fact you don't do work in English and still get those scores is making me jealous, ahaha)

If you were getting those kinds of marks for practice exams and you wrote to a similar standard in the exam, I'm sure you'll get well over 41-42.

What is your SAC rank? If it's fairly high then I guess a 41 is possible providing what you have said.

I know that a 37 is possible in english with hardly any preparation :D (never wrote any practice pieces aside from the ones we had to do in class - still scored an A on the exam).

My Sac Rank is 2 A's a B+ and 3 A+'s.

And my teacher was Mrs Morgan, shes pretty good, but she just says I'm articulate and then gives me a mark instead of telling me what i did wrong so i can aim higher.

you can do no practice exams between your trial and real exam and still get a 50... just depends on how good you are :) .

Do you know what you were ranked, if you don't mind saying?

I'm not sure on the exact number (it was a large cohort) but it would have been in the top 15 (out of ~ 120 students). I scored A's mostly on sacs however there were large discrepancies with cross-marking (several students from one particular class were all receiving ridiculously high scores in comparison to everyone else - I believe this skewed the rankings).

I think it's fair to say that my cohort was also on the weak side. Yet I scored an A on the exam and my final results were (GA1: A, GA2: A, GA3: A).

In the end the system sorts itself out.

Well, if you have the raw talent.
I've heard of a girl who obtained 48 by only writing essays for her school assessments throughout the year.
Such cases are extremely rare though.
