My friend didn't get an offer at all
« on: January 29, 2009, 12:38:46 am »
My friend didn't get an offer at all. His name didn't appear in the paper, and nothing was on his VTAC site. He was trying to get into Arts at Melbourne, but he was 0.15 off from the clearly-in ranking. His next preference is Monash Arts.

He says he is waiting for Round 2. But wouldnt he have gotten an offer anyway, for his second preference? I mean, if you dont get your first pref, u still get offers for the next course u selected in the first round yeah?

btw he got 88.15

Clearly-in for Monash Arts:

http://www.monash.edu.au/study/coursefinder/course/0002/domestic-requirements.html

Isn't it interesting that international students can be admitted with a lower ENTER...

hmmm. They do pay a lot more, don't they? given which, their status is already unequal with that of CSP students

With an ENTER of 88.15, then yes, he should've gotten an offer for Monash Arts.

That is, of course, unless he didn't meet the prerequisites:
VCE prerequisites

Units 3 and 4-a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English.

^ The universities almost completely relied on them anyway. Full Fee domestic students are relatively rare.

I recall they made up 2% of enrollment for Australia. I'd imagine they would be rare in Arts courses, but definitely not in Law.
