Haha guys, leave her alone.  :p

I think a level of confidence/cockiness is necessary, so long as it doesn't make you deluded.  The highest achievers I know won't deny that going into the exam, they are quite confident - what separates them from the people mentioned in the TC's examples is that they also recognise they are mortal, and that whilst they'll probably do well they need to ensure that they don't let anything slip by them.
