When you know pretty much the whole course before you do it, it makes life way easier. You have more time to spend on other subjects, and you are just able to chill with mates or zone out in class when you are tired, because you already know what the teacher is teaching. You also get a good as score. Because True Tears has finished the chem course, and has already put in the hard yards, he/she will be able to iexpand his/her social life, chill at school and also achieve a very high enter score. I knew someone who got an incredibly high enter, who worked hard in the holidays, and even in year 12 was able to cruise and enjoy while other people were doing 3 hours a night.

Pretty much, what I'm trying to say, is that by studying hard in the holidays, you can still have a pretty good social life  :)

what the hell are you on about? that's not true at all. cruising through school and sleeping through class does not do anything for you other than lower your marks. Doesn't matter if you've done the course twice over the holidays, if you chillax throughout the school period and become a social maniac you won't get a "good as" score. I know from experience. I finished the whole legal course before holidays even started but not once did i bludge through the year. If i did i don't think i would've managed a 40. 5-8 months (depending on what you're talking about, i.e. mid or end of yr exams) is a long time to memories everything you learnt during the holidays. If you want the 45+'s, you need to study constantly. doesn't matter who you are.

With the exception of Ahmad.

I agree with consistent study throughout the year.  It is good to be a chapter or two ahead of the class, but I really see no point in finishing the whole course before school even really kicks off.  You can't just slack off and bludge your way through the year.  You'll end up forgetting alot of the material anyway - everyone does - and by the end of the semester you'll have to relearn alot of the material.

I reckon having a social life in year 12 is possible (and also important!) regardless of whether you have crammed the whole course into your summer holidays.  High ENTERs are not necessarily achieved by studying 6 hours a night or finishing the course beforehand.

Finishing the whole course by the time school starts is a commendable effort, but I don't think it in any way guarantees a high study score.  Just my two cents :)

yah obviously anyone would forget the stuff they learnt ages beforehand (cept /0 ^.^), i only finished the course in the holidays so that during the year i can study even harder ( not slack off haha). I think that way i can consolidate the things i learnt by myself and combine it with the things my teachers teach, and i'd also have more time to do extra Q's.

lol, youve got me wrong, all im saying is that because you study heaps in the holidays, sometime in the future it will allow you to further your social life (such as in school). I didnt mean to say that you can just slack off completely if you study hard in the holidays, cos that is not the case. Obviously if you completely slack off in school, you will do badly, but if you study hard in the holidays and just do your homework and trial exams, you should be able to get above 40. Its just that by doing heaps in the holidays, you have to do relatively less at school.

Soz, in hindsight, it seemed like I was saying that you should work hard in the holidays, then relax. That is not the case. Consistent hard work is what is important. (I learnt the Unit 3 chem course while doing 1,2 and in the summer holidays, so I know that you cant just do heaps of work then slack off) :)

lol.. i'm embarrassed to say i didn't even step outside my own house -_-""". The average was like 14 - 15 hours a day z.z.z.z

that's bad. i'd prefer a good score + social life rather than perfect score + no life. but that's me.
Yes exactly, life is not about perfect score and getting 90s. Yes, its a job well done to get them but getting those scores doesn't make you any different to any other person. I study hard and im expecting 80s. All my parents say to me is that "study hard". "Doesn't really matter if you cant get 90s, as long as you know you tried and studied hard."

Im in yr 12 this year and have finished half of chem unit 3 in the holidays. And basically nothing for my other subjects! Does this mean I'll get a bad enter score? :(
I slacked of at psych during the whole year and wrote summary notes a week before the exam and still managed to get a 44. Maybe cos that was one subject!

hey hard,
did you finish the legal course for year 12 in the summer holidays?
i think theres a trend, finishing the course=45+ only when you study consistent through the year

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, should have finished a subby before school even started

well, i normally spend class time listening to what the teacher says, and see if he/she has better ways of doing Q's and etc etc.

lol... for english i'm just going along at the classes' pace. Don't like it as much as science. :P

Yeah I really don't like English. Some might even say I hate it. Big call, I know. You should have chosen English Language TrueTears! I like it sooo much more. That's just me though, it's probably not to everyone's taste.

I'd say you're better off consolidating unit 1/2 knowledge before heading for the whole finishing the course thing. In quite a few subjects, strictly unit 1/2 material popped up and screwed a few people over (including me). Also, knowing units 1/2 well will help you understand 3/4 concepts easily. Besides, I personally didn't finish the courses early (did almost nothing over the summer) and was usually just keeping up with the class but ensuring I knew exactly every concept that was going on in class.
