Hmm, I hate the feeling when you know that you've done a lot worse than you could have. Hopefully we're all worried about nothing; hopefully we've done a lot better than we've thought. I'm just stressing over the English Language exam, because I know that I didn't do as well as I could, and quite a few of my friends place extremely high expectations on me... which doesn't help, now that I'm feeling glad I'll have a 7th subject.

Fingers crossed for all of us...

English - No idea how I would have gone, but at least it wasn't the trainwreck I was expecting.
Spesh - Lost 5 very stupid marks across both exams, happy overall, but still kinda pissed off by how dumb the mistakes I made were
Methods(CAS) - Don't think I dropped any on either exam, very happy with how I went on this

Still got chem and physics, I should be ok for them. I've actually done more than solely prac exams this time, so they should fun.
2008: 3/4: Biology[41]
2009: 3/4: English[37], Chemistry[43], Methods(CAS)[46], Physics[39], Specialist[46]

If it makes you all feel better, in my exam today I wasted about 20 minutes sitting there learning the concepts from the book for the first time :P (open book exam)

(yes I will probably fail it, but oh well)

Just wondering, how important are exams in uni. Say if u by chance fail one, does it really affect you or are they relatively unimportant (at least for the first couple of years)

well if you want to get into honours i think they only take into account your third year grades.... and maybe if your borderline they might check your second year results...

but if your first year subjects are prereqs for second yr subjects or wateva and you fail... i guess you gotta do them again!

As long as your transcript is otherwise not too bad, one fail shouldn't matter that much. That said, for law at least, if you fail 3 times or something you'll get suspended and likely kicked out of the course.

It'll impact on your GPA too obviously, which will suck if you plan on trying for honours (though law honours only needs a credit average so I'm not too concerned yet :P)

Just on that same train of thought, what is the difference in your first year if say you get high distinctions or just distinctions in all your exams, is there really any difference or is it just for your own good knowing ur capable at doing well?

Does that help you in any way for next year. Like im just wondering do you get more courses available for you the next year or do any companies look bak and worry about you getting clearly better results in your first year?

No. Pre-requisites (for higher level subjects etc.) are (usually) not based on grades - you just need to have passed to have the pre-req.

And I honestly don't think companies will care about your first year results if your later years are very good. They expect that transition period to be difficult for some students :)

lol yeah i guess

its up to you if you care if you do assignments and study for exams....... but if you do all that then its pretty easy or doable to get distinction or higher...

like some speaker said ... he came talk to us in yr 12... if you try as hard as you try in yr 12, then you have no worries of failing anything in uni and actually doing really well

just following up from what i said

here's a better way to put it

"Progression to further studies
To be eligible to apply for entry into the additional one-year honours program, students should obtain a distinction grade average (70 per cent) or above in 24 points of studies in relevant units at level three, which will normally include at least 18 points of units in the area of study in which they wish to undertake honours."

Thats okay, at least they give you 2 years to adapt to uni life before the stuff really counts.

This is why you rule Nina! XD

I spent the last 10min of my Jap exam sleeping... 2 hours for an exam that could be easily completed in half that time... same thing happened last semester as well.
