It's not really the ref's fault. Apparently the FIFA rules are that if you obstruct a goal from going in, it's a penalty and a red card despite intention. Basically the penalty is obviously deserved, but apparently a red card has to follow with that penalty if it occurs within the penalty box for some reason. It's more of a flaw in the game than anything. The whole game's fouling system seems to be based off the consequence of an action, not the action itself which is really stupid. If I was a coach, I'd just tell all my players to start kicking balls at people's arms within the penalty box from now on.

It is also an Automatic Red card for a tackle from behind. Gee it should been a 10 vs 10 match....

Yeh, ironic that one of the few clear-cut things outlined in the rules in soccer was the one which wasn't called -_-"

Australia did play well, but hey Harry Kwell is a gun too okay, and what did he do? NOTHIN! Thus proving Australia's incapability of actually winning, which realy is quite sad.
wtf u on about? he was sent off like 24th minute? so he had 66 minutes excluding extra time to play... lol sounds like you think just because a team has a good striker, they should score very early or are shit

Im disappointed australia didnt win, especially since we had the potential (but at the same time i dont have to eat a hat and run around naked right).

Pim said...well we still got a chance if we get more than 3 goals against serbia... i dont really think we have a chance at this point with harry out and everything else thats happened

At least we showed some australian values and what the socceroos are really like in this game and we put up a fantastic match despite playing with 10 men... i guess try again in 4 more years

Would be hilarious to watch a 11v5 game or something.

Match is automatically conceded when there are less than 7 players

Kewell made a deliberate attempt to stop the ball and it struck his shoulder, upper arm and forearm. If a Serbian does the same thing in the next game I will be screaming for him to be sent off and us given a penalty.

A penalty alone would not do Ghana justice. It stopped a definite goal, nevermind a CHANCE at scoring, and as we know penalties are far from definite goals.

I just stumbled across a disturbing trend. The number 2.
Two:
The number of straight reds australia has suffered
The number of penalties Ghana has recieved
The number of penalties Serbia has given away
The number of testicles German coach Joachim Loew has

The whole game's fouling system seems to be based off the consequence of an action, not the action itself which is really stupid.

btw, that's clearly not true. A studs up tackle is a red card even if you don't make contact with the other player. Same with a high boot, you can get a yellow card without making contact.

- The combined winning margin of Germany over Ghana and Australia over Serbia has to be at least 6 for Australia to safely advance. (It can be 5 if Australia's goal tally is greater than Ghana's)
- If Ghana beat Germany and Australia beat Serbia than Australia advance.

So basically, either hope that Ghana get absolutely pummeled, or that they win... I'm not sure what to hope for. But the one thing we don't want is for Ghana and Germany to draw. If they do, we'll have to beat Serbia by 7 goals or something ridiculous like that

when i think serbia i think zealot... when i think germany i think archon... playing too much diplo
