Australia needs more open borders. The people who can't tolerate it can leave (open borders works both ways mate), or be arrested for the crimes they cause through their intolerance (or ideally, put up or shut up).

The name of the group isn't even particularly racist. I think it's reasonable to expect people to make some attempt to learn English, although there is obviously a lot of racism going on in the group. Linking it to elite schools is stupid though. There are going to be people from elite private schools in most groups. Who gives a fuck?

Also, some people might see the name and go "people do need to learn English if they are going to live here" and not really look into the group and see how racist it is. Some people just join a whole bunch of groups without really thinking.

This group has popped up way too many times on my facebook feed, and i actually did report it as well (there were a lot,a LOT of racist taunts) but nothing happened. Those "report abuse" things never work... >.<"

But i do agree that some people do join it without even thinking it thoroughly, as I know people who have joined this particular group and are not racist.

according to the article, wasn't it that the original creators didnt mean to have it go this far, or in this direction etc but it was just a few people took it too far and hence bringing it to the publics attention?

I know that a couple of schools have punished students for things they've done online.

why would the private schools care *that* much tho?
surely it wouldnt have too much of an impact on the demand for places at those schools?

Yes i agree with you, some people did take it way too far! And I don't think it is just "Melbourne's top schools", it's just that they happen to see a lot of them in the group =/

As someone who grew up being subject to racist taunts, all I can do is laugh.

"Mate speak english"... yet they can't even spell "where". Sigh. Seriously?

EDIT: just had a look at their discussion board.
"Non Racist Blacks Murdering White Farmers (Daily) in Multicultural South Africa"
"JEWISH SLAVE SHIP OWNERS"
"How Egalitarians are leading us into a new dark age of dogmatism and ignorance."
"PERTISSION" (sorry, you want us immigrants to speak English?)

LOL
