I get this "Unable to connect : java.security.AccessControlException : access denied (java.net.SocketPermission irc.freenode.org resolve) "

What browser are you using? Have you tried it in another browser?

I used to get that a lot. I just closed it for like an hour, came back to it and it worked fine. :s

When I did use the java client, the first attempt to connect basically never worked. Just keep trying and by the 4th or so it should. As to why this happens, I have no idea. Solution: get a real IRC client :]

Since theres an attempt to connect, I don't think it has got anything to do with the Java..

I reinstalled java but I think it might have something to do with my username. I think I'm in a catch-22 at the moment - I can't change my nickname until I log in, and I can't log in until I change my nickname.

lol, the Java client automatically uses your forum name as the name. "/0" is not a valid name.

'daniel.' is probably not valid either, or taken.

After your error message, type '/name <something else>' where <something else> is a new nickname and then /retry
