What the hell is vicroads thinking?
These cheap, tacky ads are a ridiculous waste of taxpayer money. Nobody's going to listen to something that undermines the severity of the message it sends with cheap "humour" (for lack of a better word). The most recent simpsons episode lampooned how these advertising whackjobs consider the teen market demographic:
Flanders: "Welcome to bible study! Today my reading ribbon is smack dab in the middle of Matthew 23! Now let us download the holy tweet of the lord!"
Skinner's mother: "Stop making this relatable!"
Jimbo: "Hey, as a youth, if I don't hear a computer word every couple of sentences, I am out of here!"
Flanders: "Duly noted. But we will make sure not to dilute the sacred gospel."
*Jimbo gets up to leave*
Flanders: "Mousepad! Double click! Skype!"
*Jimbo keeps walking*
Flanders: "Skype!!!"
*Jimbo comes back*
And the sad thing is, that's how most advertisers see our demographic. And it leads to patronising, lumps of turd like that ad campaign. Which just cost taxpayers millions of dollars to produce and air. Ineffective. Trivial.
Not to mention, in one of the ads it says "Every time you use a phone whilst driving, an emo is born". Nice going, you absolute retards at VicRoads. Marginalise a group of people who are already socially rejected, of whom a great deal many have acute depressive tendencies.
WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING?!?!
