Yeah good old K.Rudd.  Only his Government was proactive enough to foresee the strains which our schools will face in the year 2030, and consequently responded in the most appropriate manner by spending billions on the construction of school halls and classrooms which will be old and dilapidated before they will become of any significant use.  Meanwhile, people struggle to reserve hospital beds and are forced on to month/year long waiting lists for surgery.  Go figure...

Our school got lots (I mean...millions and millions of dollars) of money from the government to spend on things im not sure we will really use...

We built a trade training centre apparently one of only 4 in the states.. we know have a professional restaurant, sign writing shop, picture framing shop and a bakery and yet... i know maybe 20 or 30 people at most that will use these but i dont know everyone..

I reckon the school could of put the 7 million dollars to much better use around the school but maybe thats me..

Rudd building big grand projects and handing out money to keep people happy is semi ridiculous i think but i like him much better than abbot (who takes donations from tobbaco and coal companies..)

I'm not into defending politicians much but that was just pure Keynesian economics... he needed to get money into the economy quickly, and school infrastructure was the best way to do it. As we've seen in the last few weeks any reform to hospitals takes a very long time to impose, so to get the money out there quick enough he chose schools.

fuc* i have K.Rudd im voting him out when the election come. he has done nothing but waste money and our economy is now fuc*ed or atleast not as strong as it could be with this recourse tax that he thinks is a good idea. i hate him and this $900 he gave everyone to start the economy was a waste.

I think they should've spent lots of the money given in the bonus handout on infrastructure such as rail networks.

Actually the Australian economy is recognised as having responded best to the global financial crisis out of any developed nation, thanks in no small part to the expansionary policy of the Rudd government. You can hardly blame him for the crisis, it was a worldwide event which occurred less than a year into his term. There was no recession, unemployment didn't rise above 6%, what more could you possibly have expected him to do? The handouts were a necessary act to boost consumption, and it's widely agreed that they worked more or less exactly as intended.
