I had a terrible timetable last year where I was doing overloading and did 5 subjects which equated 15 contact hours but I had it over 5 days which sucked, and I was working 16-20 hours then as well, I felt like I wasn't fully on top of things but still managed my best results that semester.

Jesus christ how the hell did you manage that? GIVE ME ADVICE!!! lol
Cram. Hard.

If you know yourself that you could have studied in that 3 hour block between uni and work last week, or that 5 hour block on saturday morning and your whole sunday and the like, then the only problem you have is pure and unadulterated laziness.

Good news though, it's pretty easy to fix! :)

All you need is a goal and a solid motivation source.

I have searched far and wide (on the interwebs) and found a really good video, that always send a quick shiver down my spine, and usually makes me get a bit pumped and ready to work.

You need a goal first like 'to get distinction' or 'to pass' or 'A+ on chem midyear in 2 weeks.
Then use the motivator to make you think about not only the goal, but the most important element: how to get it.

Al Pacino refers to the 'six inches in front of your face' and I personally say that phrase to myself every single day. Read the more information section on the video for the explanation of the six inches, and it will explain the problem why people never get their goal, but tells you how.

Trust me, watch it and think about how it can relate to your schooling, guys :).

Download the video and put it on your iPod :).

Ask me for more motivation if you need it :P.

It's all well and good to accuse people of being lazy, but you need to respect the fact that people can't be working all day, every day - people NEED to take time-out.
This is what I was saying before - it's not possible to just keep going and going without burning yourself out eventually.
I know because I speak from experience.

I see. You work in three hour intervals. Try working an 8 hour shift - see if you want to study after that, it really takes a lot out of you.

I'm just mildly annoyed at your previous posts because you really shouldn't be labeling people as lazy. She's studying law ffs...

Work for 3 hours Thurs night
work for 3 hours sat mornning,

Bit different from 20+ hours of work a week though

Thanks olly. I do recognise that I'm a very lazy person, but my job is in the legal industry and involves reading through a lot of legislation/government financial statements & budgets/random legalese crap from government ministers etc., so it's also quite intellectually exhausting. It's a bit hard to feel like studying after doing what already feels like studying for 17+ hours a week :(

Word to that - I work 16 hours a week (2 shifts), play in a band, go to university full-time, and sometimes you just dont feel like studying.  It's not laziness, it's tiredness.

wtf? olly, dcc and ninwa, im trying offer and advice and help you, and you just judge whatever i say?
get bent lol.

i was speaking to people, on my very own level too, who "know yourself that you could have studied in that block" not law students so calm down, get off ya high horses and get some work done instead of judging my assistance because it doesnt apply to you.

i bet someone watched the video and then got off the pc and facebook and msn and cod, and studied an extra hour.

Wtf overreaction much? All I did was point out that as you don't work 20+ hours a week maybe people like me aren't necessarily just lazy.

Sorry o.O

Dude first you say you're trying to help me, then you say your advice doesn't apply to non-VCE students, which one is it?? Don't go attacking people for questioning you when you yourself appear to be confused

okay then - law students can disregard me then, theres only about 4 of you on here anyway...

And given that Ninwa was the only one in this thread actually asking for advice, it can be assumed that your advice was directed at her.
Dude... I'm actually pissed off with your comments, which is really hard to do... and clearly I'm not the only one.
The likes of you inferring that Ninwa is lazy is just ridiculous, given what she manages to get done in a week compared to you.

Seriously, you need a reality check.

Right now you're living in the VCE bubble.
Come back in a few years when you've actually had some experience with the big wide world, 'kay?
