i'll probably get karma'd down for this and you'll all think it's stupid, but can someone come up with a logical reason why Indigenous Australian's thought that an effective killing tool would be one that flies back at them?

"Although non-returning boomerangs throw sticks (or kylies) were used as weapons, returning boomerangs have been used primarily for leisure or recreation. "
(Or you could of just typed boomerang into wikipedia)

Boomerangs were used to flock up the birds or something, then they'd throw a spear or something to kill the prey. The boomerang isn't really a killing weapon as opposed to a gathering tool.

Well if it didn't work, you'd think they'd have stopped using it at some point... natural selection and all that.
