Writing about movies in a creating & presenting SAC?

hey all
just a quick question. Is it okay to include ideas from a movie in a creating and presenting SAC?
By ideas, i mean : the movie's characters and events that occur in it.
Cause i just remembered a film which i can relate it to The Catcher in the Rye and it involves "Identity and Belonging".
I'm not too sure whether this is a good idea as my English teacher might not have seen that film.
Any advice will be appreciated
