You must be good at understanding people. Its funny cos section 2 was the only one I did a 2 practice tests for and it was my lowest section by far. With section 1 being my highest even though I didn't even know what it involved till I was actually in the real UMAT.

UMAT= retarded...

Hmm. Well I've looked into it thoroughly and for me I think biomed is the better choice. You will probably disagree but I don't mind.

The biomed students at the open day were really convincing haha. But thats just me. I know it's a big debate about whats better. But I'm siding with  biomed, I know they're really similar but still from the information I've seen biomed is the winner IMO. Hopefully the ATAR score doesn't jump dramatically again though.

Sci vs. biomed doesn't matter. ATAR won't go up again (...surely not...)

Congratulations to everyone who achieved their desired UMAT and bad luck to those who didn't. There are plenty of other pathways, so look for them!

Also, there are fancy 2010 graphs up i'll edit mine out

^^ Incorrect. I spoke to the Chief Selective Officer or whatever his title is on open day. He told me that there was a strong preference towards the "Biomedicine" students from Melbourne. I said, "It doesn't make sense that you would chose a science student over a biomedicine student unless personality flaws are present. Biomedicine students received ATAR's far higher and it would all be in vain..." He replied, "Yes well that's the logical approach but we don't discourage kids from Science but it is possible to do Post Grad Medicine. You are right though, obviously there is a preference towards the Biomedicine students assuming they have the personalities to match..."

Biomed you have many subjects you are forced to take though and not much freedom, since you are doing subjects you necessarily dont want (like experimental design or calculus) it might drag down your GPA which is one of the main factors for getting into medicine.

If you do science you have much more choice and can still achieve all the required prerequisites, since you are doing subjects you like, your gpa will probably end up higher.

Sci vs. biomed doesn't matter. ATAR won't go up again (...surely not...)

Sci atar is actually down next year (to 85ish)

I'll hold you to this Russ. They better not, if anything I hope it goes down, something around the 96 mark seems accessible. Otherwise I'm kinda screwed I think haha. Anything above 98 just seems way too high for an undergraduate course.
